The qBittorrent project aims to provide a free software alternative to µTorrent (uTorrent). Its development originated in March 2006, at the Université de technologie de Belfort-Montbéliard in France, by Christophe Dumez. Currently, it has the collaboration of developers around the world. And it has been administered by Sledgehammer, from Greece, since June 2013. What is qBittorrent?
It is a cross-platform P2P client for the BitTorrent network. For those who are not very expert, BitTorrent is a protocol for exchanging files on the Internet that uses the peer-to-peer mode. qBittorrent is written in C ++ language, it uses the Boost libraries, as it is a native application, it also includes the use of the Qt library and for network connections it uses the libtorrent-rasterbar library. Additionally, it has a search function, which is worth it in the Python installation. Therefore it is an optional functionality for those users who do not want to install it. And last but not least, it is free and open source.

qBittorrent includes a variety of functionalities. Below, we list the most relevant:

Download and Installation
qBittorrent is available for various Linux distributions, such as Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, OpenSUSE, Mandriva, among others. All these can be obtained by accessing the download section of the official site of the application, you choose one and it will show you its installation method, according to the selected distribution.
