Qna-32g2fc and qna
Table of contents:
We continue to present the new Qnap products at Computex 2019, now it is time to talk about the two new cards or network adapters that have been launched. Qnap QNA-32G2FC is a network card with two 32Gbps fiber ports and Qnap QNA-UC5G1T a USB 3.1 Gen1 to 5GbE adapter.
Qnap QNA-32G2FC 32 Gbps PCIe Card
The first device that we bring in this article is this expansion card compatible with both PCs and NAS under the PCIe 3.0 x8 interface that offers us dual connectivity for fiber optics (SPF +) at a speed on each port of 32 Gbps.
How much is 32 Gbps? They add up to a total of 4000 MB / s in each port, that is to say the same as a maximum M.2 unit would give, although in this case for network elements. Its 8 LANES PCIe interface allows us, under the 3.0 specification, to have 1000 MB / s in each LANE both up and down.
It obviously supports 16Gbps and 8Gbps connections, so it is a highly adaptable card for those users who need to dramatically increase wired network connectivity for their high-performance NAS or 10GbE switch.
Qnap QNA-UC5G1T the USB 3.1 - 5 GbE adapter
As in the previous network card, here the calculations regarding bus width are also exact. We have an adapter no bigger than a flash drive that allows us to convert a 1 / 2.5 / 5 Gbps network signal under the RG-45 Base-T connector to USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C interface. You will already know that this interface works precisely at 5 Gbps.
This adapter is intended for use with 10 GbE switches on a PC that does not have such a speed, something quite normal for the average user, especially when it comes to laptops, since practically none comes with such a powerful network card, although USB does. 3.1. Inside we have an Aquantia AQC11U chip as a network card.
We must bear in mind that we will need to install a driver in Windows and Linux in order to use it. Specifically, it will be the Aquantia chip driver mentioned above. About MacOS, the manufacturer will add support for this adapter in a future version.
We recommend our guide to the best NAS on the market
Availability
This adapter is already available for sale from May 21, while the network card has not been given details on its availability, but we hope it will be in a short time.
