QNAP Launches NAS TVS-882ST3 Thunderbolt 3 with 8 2.5 ”Bays

"The TVS-882ST3 combines versatile high-speed interfaces including Thunderbolt 3, 10GbE and USB 3.1 (Gen2 10Gbps Type-C and Type-A) into a powerful NAS solution to perform optimized data transfers in different applications, " said Jason Hsu QNAP Product Manager, who added that "with its compact frame and eight 2.5" bays that are ideal for SSDs, the TVS-882ST3 is perfect for small offices and teams looking for a NAS with performance and functionality normally reserved for high-end servers. ”

Operating on the 64-bit QTS 4.3 operating system, the TVS-882ST3 supports the innovative Thunderbolt-to-Ethernet (T2E) converter that allows Thunderbolt-enabled devices to access 10GbE network resources through a Thunderbolt connection to the NAS. This innovative converter introduces a flexible and cost-effective data transfer method for non-Ethernet devices. The TVS-882ST3 is also a perfect match for MacBook Pro® Thunderbolt 3 and provides seamless collaboration between SMB-enabled Final Cut Pro® X 10.3 and Windows® PC for file sharing between platforms to optimize collaboration in computer and video editing workflows.

More than a high-speed storage solution to drive workflow for video producers and organizations, the TVS-882ST3 can power multiple digital applications with its rich features. It is a secure file center with extensive privilege controls for cross-platform file sharing, backup / restore, and synchronization; QvPC technology allows the TVS-882ST3 to be used as a PC by connecting a keyboard, mouse, and HDMI display; Linux Station allows direct use of the Ubuntu® desktop; Virtualization Station can host multiple Windows, Linux®, UNIX® and Android ™ based virtual machines on the NAS; Container Station enables nearly unlimited LXC and Docker® containerized applications and IoT development; Qfiling and Qsirch optimize data storage operations by automatically organizing files and quickly searching for them.

The TVS-882ST3 supports seamless storage expansion. Users can connect up to six Thunderbolt 2 expansion chassis (TX-800P 8-bay or TX-500P 5-bay) or two USB 3.0 expansion chassis (UX-800P 8-bay or UX-500P 5-bay) to expand storage capacity as needed. Storage capacity can also be expanded using VJBOD (Virtual JBOD) which takes advantage of the unused storage capacity of other QNAP NAS, providing a reliable and high capacity storage solution for an increasing volume of high resolution media files.
