This past Friday we were at the QNAP event in Madrid ! It was a good opportunity to enjoy the new products launched by the prestigious brand and, as always, to get to know the rest of the media in the sector.

Do you want to know what we were seeing? We make you a little tour!

QNAP presents its new products for this Q2

Adrián Groba (Regional Sales Manager) explained all the news for this second quarter. Among the most interesting products we come across the unmanaged switch: QNAP QSW-1208-8c . This high-end switch has 4 fixed SFP + 10Ge connections and 8 connections spread over a combo of RJ45 (copper) and SFP + 10G, active cooling using two fans and a devastating price of 450 euros plus VAT. As of today, we do not find any switch with these characteristics and at an acceptable price for home users or small companies. Got it on QNAP!

As an entry-level NAS, we were introduced to the 3-bay QNAP TS-328 that supports RAID 5 technology. Why 3 bays instead of 4? The fundamental idea is to save costs to the user, since with a RAID 5 we can mount 3 hard drives, two of them would be available and the third would be used to back up your most important data.

It is also compatible with H265 and H264 encoding as standard. This is ideal for those users who use their NAS for everything and thus take advantage of it as a multimedia center. Its price is amazing, since it comes out for just 275 euros.

We were also able to see in person the new QNAP TS-1277 with AMD Ryzen 7 1700 processor with 8 physical cores, 16 threads of execution (SMT), 16 GB of RAM pre-installed (there are versions with 8 and 64 GB), the possibility to install a total of 12 hot-swap distributed in 8 for 3.5 inches and 4 for 2.5 inch disks.

We can install a total of 2 M.2 NVMe drives (a heatsink is recommended) and a 10Ge network card or an Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti graphics card. Standard comes with a good 550W power supply.

Without a doubt, it is one of the most powerful NAS that we can find on the market. The evolution in both QNAP hardware and software is impressive.

Quite useful is to see how we can use the QNAP Qboat development board. It is a perfect solution to complement it with an iOT Arduino or Raspberry Pi 3 .

This device can be expanded with RAM, processor and two M.2 connectors. Among its services it can offer us: web server, internal messaging and access to the QNAP private cloud.

Finally, they showed us the potential of their video surveillance APPs and the development of their own artificial intelligence. Everything looks very good and we will talk in greater depth in future analyzes of your products. We thank QNAP for the invitation and their kindness throughout the event.

What do you think of these new releases? We want to know your opinion!
