QNAP Systems, Inc. has announced the launch of the world's first NAS designed for M.2 SSDs - the NASbook TBS-453A. With an Intel® quad-core processor and using M.2 SSDs for storage, the TBS-453A is a portable NAS that not only provides full RAID-protected NAS functionality in an ultra-compact size, but can also act as a physical network switch to share network access with multiple users. With its compact and very quiet design, dual HDMI output, and 4K video playback, the NASbook TBS-453A can be transported and placed anywhere to increase productivity and connectivity.

QNAP TBS-453A

The TBS-453A features an Intel® Celeron® N3150 quad-core 14nm 1.6GHz processor (which can automatically go up to 2.08GHz) and dual-channel 4GB / 8GB DDR3L RAM. The TBS-453A has 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports and 3 Gigabit switching ports that support network switch and private network modes. These modes allow users to easily create flexible network environments to enhance collaboration in workgroups by allowing connected devices to access files stored on the TBS-453A or share the Internet connection. It offers a data throughput of up to 112 MB / s per LAN port while being highly energy efficient and compatible with AES-NI hardware accelerated encryption to boost AES encrypted transfer rate from 256 to 109 MB / s for each LAN port.

The TBS-453A is supplied with a compact AC adapter and is compatible with a wide range of 10V ~ 20V DC input to satisfy various power sources. RAM and SSDs are easily accessible for installation and upgrade. You can expand the storage capacity of the TBS-453A by connecting it to an 8-bay UX-800P expansion chassis, or a 5-bay UX-500P.

The TBS-453A is also geared for abundant multimedia applications. Users can connect it to a TV or A / V receiver to enjoy 4K multimedia content. With its two 3.5mm microphone jacks, an output port, a built-in speaker, and the OceanKTV app, the TBS-453A can also be transformed into an affordable karaoke machine or used with various audio applications.

The TBS-453A comes with various applications to meet professional needs and improve productivity. By connecting a keyboard, mouse, and HDMI display, the Linux Station enables the NAS to be used as a Linux® workstation to power open source software development and to allow users to run Linux applications. Qsirch enables users to find NAS data quickly with its powerful near-real-time full-text search engine. The QTS Storage Manager provides a web-based shadow copy tool for efficient data recovery, allowing up to 1, 024 volume and LUN shadow copies on a NAS. The TBS-453A also offers a hybrid approach to virtualization applications. The Virtualization Station allows users to run multiple Windows®, Linux, UNIX® and Android ™ based virtual machines on the NAS with an HDMI monitor and USB keyboard / mouse (via QvPC Technology), and the Container Station which integrates two LXC and Docker® virtualization technologies.
