Qualcomm has gone ahead of the Mobile World Congress to announce a new autonomous VR headset design that makes use of its most powerful and advanced processor, the Snapdragon 845.

The new VR system of the American firm works with the Snapdragon 845, which is 30 percent faster and 30 percent more efficient with the use of energy than the Snapdragon 835 version. The Snapdragon 845 processor will also allow what Qualcomm calls Adreno Foveation, basically it is a system that is supported by four cameras, two of which point to the user's face to follow the movements of the eyes and focus more precisely on what the user is watching, thanks to which a greater image clarity is achieved with the use of the VR headset.

The other great innovation that the new processor allows is the room scale tracking, this is based on a 6-DoF (degrees of freedom) tracking with SLAM (simultaneous location and mapping) to follow the body and the room in which it is located, thereby detecting obstacles in front of the user so that he can avoid them.

Thanks to the great power of the new Snapdragon 835 processor and its Adreno 630 GPU, the devices can support higher resolution screens, this offers more than double the display capacity compared to the Snapdragon 835 mobile platform. The new chipset allows to move the Two screens with 2K resolution are used, which will deliver excellent image quality.
