Qualcomm snapdragon 835 is officially announced

It had been leaked a few days ago but it was finally today when the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 smartphone processor is officially announced, coming to dominate the top-end market with an iron fist.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 makes the leap to a Kryo 280 eight-core setup to greatly enhance its predecessor. The eight cores are divided into two clusters of four cores each at maximum frequencies of 2.45 GHz for the main cluster and 1.9 GHz for the secondary cluster. This improves the performance of the Snapdragon 820 by 20% while increasing energy efficiency thanks to Samsung's new 10nm LPE manufacturing process.

The graphics section is also reinforced with the presence of the new Adreno 540 GPU that improves the performance of the previous top of the range by 25%, the Adreno 530 of the Snapdragon 820, and is also fully compatible with the most modern APIs such as OpenGL 3.2, Vulkan and DirectX 12. This new GPU is compatible with virtual reality and will provide great performance to teams based on the Snapdragon 835 running the Windows 10 operating system.

We continue with the DSP Hexagon 682 of which the improvements have not been detailed but it has been said that it incorporates two additional cores. The ISP happens to be a Spectra 180 that can handle cameras of up to 32 MP or a double camera of 16 MP each sensor.

Finally we highlight the new Quick Charge 4.0 technology that reduces charging time by 20% while increasing efficiency by 30%, the Snapdragon X16 modem with a download speed of 1 Gbps and upload of 150 Mbps, WiFi 2 × 2 802.11 ac compatible with 802.11 ad and Bluetooth 4.2.
