Terry Makedon, AMD Radeon's Senior Director of Software Strategy and User Experience, confirmed that the company plans to release a major update to its Radeon Software ecosystem, thus fulfilling its recent tradition of offering a major update every year.

AMD Radeon typically releases a major graphics driver update annually, which adds new features, while also addressing deficiencies within its driver stack. With last year's update of Radeon Software Adrenalin, AMD was able to increase responsiveness of games by decreasing frame latencies across multiple titles, adding support for multiple GPU configurations in borderless mode, adding support for Frame rate target control to Vulkan, and support for Radeon Enhance Sync. In addition to that, AMD launched its AMD Link application, which allows you to control various aspects of the GPU using a mobile phone.

At this time, the new feature features of the next major release of Radeon Software are unknown, although the new driver is likely to be released in the coming weeks, probably mid-December as Radeon Software 18.12.1 or 18.12.2.
