And even so, the world of mice has been stagnant with the same sensor and its derivatives for about four years. Are we at the top of precision? Is this the ceiling?

I do not think so. I think we suffer from a tunnel vision that encourages us to continue improving what we have worked for decades, but what if we were wrong and would have to move towards another goal?

There is a brand of bluish colors that has been fighting in this arena for a while and has already released several very high quality wireless peripherals. In the market, no brand is very sure about wireless technology, no bet too much on it, but perhaps this is the goal towards which we have to advance.

Logitech: towards the world without cables

From headphones to mice, Logitech has released devices of excellent quality. In this article we are going to take a look at the different technologies that have made Logitech great, as well as the brand's wireless mice. But first, let's look at a bit of history:

Logitech is a company that since its inception worked in the peripheral mine creating rats for old Personal Computers (PCs) . Founded in Switzerland in 1981, it is one of the veterans of this medium and has always been one of the standards of innovation and quality. She was the first to leave the physical sphere in mice for infrared light and is undoubtedly one of the pioneers in the creation of wireless items.

What makes Logitech special?

As we have already mentioned before, Logitech has always stood out for its excellent articles and its commitment to innovation. Since it already has long experience creating wireless devices, the company is hard-fought.

We can think a lot of things about each Logitech wireless mouse, but the important thing is that Logitech is not really a special brand. The company is recognized today and has made a place for itself in the world of peripherals based on trial and error. Device after device have earned the trust of users and thanks to this they position themselves today as a powerful and relevant company.

But we are not here to make empty claims. Let's see why Logitech continues to be a relevant brand in these days.

Sensor Hero

It is likely that if you had a mouse of the old generation you had some problems when you slid it on wood, your pants or any other unusual material (we speak, of course, if you use the mouse outside the house). This is why a few years ago we saw how the PMW3310 retired to make way for the PMW 3360, which was the same or more precise and much more off-road.

As a result of the PMW3360, derived sensors such as the PMW 3366 (Logitech), PMW3389 (Razer), TrueMove3 (SteelSeries) were born, all of which are ultra-precise. However, the Swiss brand has managed to take a step that differentiates it from the competition with its new iteration which they have called the 'Hero sensor'.

The Hero sensor stands out for having the characteristic precision that we expect from any superior sensor and, in addition, enjoying certain algorithms that allow it to be incredibly efficient. To make a comparison, the G703 with PMW3366 sensor is capable of lasting about 20hrs with RGB light, while the Logitech G Pro with the Hero reaches 48hrs, more than double!

The Body of Mice

If we look at the history of Logitech designs it has a little of everything. Mice with sober, aggressive designs, with numerous buttons, with few… The brand has been testing and discarding ideas, always refining each new iteration and that is how we have come to today.

It is essential to talk about how well cared the designs of today's mice are. Logitech has found (as it is said in English) a sweet point where it satisfies a large audience. Both gamers and not, you can enjoy the quality and good design of the peripherals and more importantly, the grip so smooth and intuitive thanks to its excellent construction. In addition, if you are a fingertip-grip, you should consider buying a Logitech wireless mouse, since they are one of the few known brands that leaves the window ajar for these users.

LightSpeed technology

The G305 mouse is arguably the cheapest in the wireless family. It belongs to the latest generation of Logitech G mice, making it considerably more efficient than previous iterations thanks to the Hero sensor. Unsurprisingly, it has LightSpeed technology, but sadly, it lacks RGB light and LightSync.

The price is very good. The precision is excellent, how could it be otherwise, and is designed for medium hands. It only mounts an AA battery with which it weighs 99g and, according to the company, reaches around 250hrs of common use, which makes us quite happy especially when compared to previous models. The mouse body is ambidextrous and features 6 programmable buttons. There are two versions of the mouse, one in black and the other in white.

On the other hand, some people complain that the grip is imprecise and slippery, so you have to have lead feet. Also, it is not a very good mouse for large hands, nor for palm-grip, so you should check your measurements before thinking about buying it. Also, since the stack hides under the hump, it lacks RGB lighting, which we regret in silence.

The special case of the twin brothers. This pair stands out because they are practically the same mouse. They share the same sensor, same body, weight and many other characteristics. The only differences you will find is the date of release.

This time gap allowed the G703 to mount better switches that offer 50m clicks instead of its older brother's 20m. In addition to this, there is also PowerPlay technology to recharge the mouse wirelessly with the special Logitech mouse pad, a function that can go unnoticed.

It is for these two reasons that when the G703 came out, the wireless version of the G403, being inferior, was retired from the catalog. However, even today, a large number of professional gamers still use the G403, indicating the high quality and reliability of Logitech wireless mice.

Of these mice we can highlight their excellent shape. It is balanced, not too heavy and has enough buttons. If you are a fingertip-grip user, this mouse, along with the G603, may become your Holy Grail .

As drawbacks it should be mentioned that it is a right-handed mouse and, although the direction of the clicks can be reversed, it is not pleasant to hold it with the left foot. In addition to that, it does not have any compartment for the USB, a serious failure that can be worth more than a displeasure. And finally, even if it is a little unfair, to highlight the difference in the sensor.

Both the G403 and G703 have Pixart's excellent PMW 3366 sensor, which, compared to their younger siblings, automatically turns them into mice with simply acceptable batteries.

As you will notice, the G602 is a mouse that belongs to another era due to the specifications, its more irregular and aggressive design and even because the logo is different from the current one. This mouse is a mastodon whose time has already passed, however, not being replaced and being wireless we believe that it deserves this space.

We have to highlight the good battery life, since, among other things, it uses an older and less efficient sensor. And, to mention that it is a mouse with a large number of parts, having eleven programmable buttons and an extra one located under the wheel that allows you to switch between performance mode and resistance mode (or low frequency). As a pioneer, we have to reward you for betting on batteries and the interesting feature of being able to work with just one.

On the other hand, it is insurmountable that this model should be withdrawn, since it cannot compete against new models from the same house. Currently, considering its regular benefits, it is really expensive to pay its full price. We would mention the lack of weights that regulate the weight of the device, but they are not very necessary since with a single battery it reaches 130g.

There is no doubt that you should not buy this Logitech wireless mouse as time has only made it obsolete. There are much better options for similar prices.

The Logitech G903 is one of those mice that impresses you with its design. It was probably the most complete mouse in the old Logitech line and it is still a very high quality mouse. We can see how it is a mix of two generations, since it has the PMW3366 at the same time that it presents the LightSpeed technology and the PowerPlay.

This mouse presents very interesting things, both in design and construction. Logitech boasts of having achieved milestones such as reducing the weight of its devices in a generously sized and ambidextrous mouse such as the G903. Plus, it mounts an entire body layout of up to 11 programmable buttons, perfect for macros in video games.

Although it is not something very serious, we have to mention the down-grade that is suffered by having a lower sensor and, perhaps, the appearance so aggressive that it can throw back some more moderate users. The only considerable error would be the price, which, even on sale, is still very high for what most users are willing to pay.

The newest child in the family, the G502, has all the features that Logitech is known for today. Adding a bit more to the brand in the aggressive designs section, this mouse joins the wireless club by offering a wireless version of its twin brother.

It mounts a Hero sensor and supports the LightSpeed, PowerPlay and LightSync technologies, that is, it is basically a compilation of the greatest hits. It is a mouse with a very attractive design and excellent for palm-grip and has numerous programmable buttons, 11 specifically. Finally, the company boasts of battery and charging speed, stating that with a few minutes of charging you can reach several hours of play.

It is really difficult to get any negative point out of this mouse, since we do not have an opponent to serve as a reference on what could be improved. We can remove that the mouse is so specialized in the palm-grip, that it will be somewhat uncomfortable for other users who are accustomed to using claw-grip and we don't even talk about fingertip-grip. Furthermore, considering that users have shown a higher appreciation for sober designs, perhaps such a charged and aggressive body can have a negative impact on the product.

As for quality and balance, I think we need to give the Logitech G Pro Wireless Mouse the MVP. As of the date it came out, the technologies it supports are LightSpeed and LightSync.

This mouse challenges the design of the perfected G403 and goes for a bold ambidextrous case. In addition, it has two side buttons on each side, which you can deactivate and even cover if you do not want to use or touch them by accident. This makes the mouse have up to 8 programmable buttons that can be reduced to 4 if the user wishes.

It has a sober style that can please a large group of computer users and above all, the precision characteristic of the gaming range. One very important thing is its weight of only 80g, which is ideal to be used and / or play without suffering even after long sessions.

As a negative aspect we wanted to mention that there are users who find it very slippery, although there are companies that sell aids to improve grip. The high price is also an aspect that we cannot ignore, although the balance of its benefits slightly compensates it.

Last conclusions

Making a general summary about this brand, I think we can conclude that Logitech is a very interesting company. It meets the expectations that users put in it and presents articles that do not leave anyone indifferent. Also, it is always nice to see how technology continues to advance, whether from one group or another.

In the mice section, we could crown the Logitech G Pro, but its high price drags it a bit. Personally, I think that the G603 is a very respectable option, since it presents unique characteristics and for an excellent price. On the other hand, if you like macros more, it is evident that the G502 is the best, also because within the brand itself there is not much competition in this field.
