Razer is getting stronger by its gamer peripherals and its wide community every day. On this occasion the Californian has sent us one of her most interesting mice, the Razer Mamba Tournament Chroma featuring a highly advanced 5G laser sensor with a maximum resolution of 1600 DPI and the acclaimed Chroma lighting system. This mouse promises to become the best weapon for the most demanding users and especially for fans of first person shooter games, where precision is especially important. If you want to know more, don't miss our complete review in Spanish.

First of all we thank Razer for the trust placed in giving us the Mamba Chroma for analysis.

Razer Mamba Tournament Chroma technical features

Razer Mamba Tournament Chroma Review: unboxing and design

The Razer Mamba Tournament Chroma wears a typical presentation of the brand, we find the mouse inside a cardboard box in which the corporate colors of the Californian company predominate, specifically black and green. It is a very characteristic design and followers of the brand will recognize it from afar without problems. On the back we have a breakdown of all the features in several languages (including Spanish).Once we open the box we find the mouse accompanied by some stickers and the company greeting card.

The Razer Mamba Chroma has dimensions of 128 x 70 x 42 mm (Length x Width x Height) and an approximate weight of 133 grams. With an asymmetrical design and a dome shape it is more oriented towards a claw grip rather than the classic palm . Its entire body is constructed from the highest quality black plastic to last us long as new, featuring an asymmetrical design and a dome shape that is more geared towards a claw grip rather than the classic palm . The use of plastic allows the weight to remain very light despite the high quality of its finishes, with this we have a much smoother and faster glide on the mat. This design has been thought to offer maximum comfort to right-handed users.

We get to the sides and see how on the left Razer has mounted two programmable buttons that are configured to go back and forth in web browsing. Under the buttons we have a rubber pad to improve the grip on our hand and prevent the mouse from flying in sudden and sudden slides. On the right side we have nothing beyond another rubber pad. With this we have a total of 9 programmable buttons, all of them with a very good touch that denotes the great quality of this mouse.

At the top we find two programmable buttons that come preconfigured to change the DPI level of the sensor, from a minimum of 800 DPI to reach 16, 000 DPI. Remember that a high DPI value allows us to make a great tour with a very small movement of the mouse so it will be especially suitable for multi-monitor configurations. In contrast, low DPI values will be ideal in games where high precision of movement is required.

We also see the wheel with a quite generous size and that offers a very smooth glide on short and long runs, it has a rubber finish for better grip and prevent our finger from slipping. We highlight that the wheel offers four-axis displacement, something very useful and that unfortunately there are few mice that include it. The two main buttons feature top-quality Japanese Omron mechanisms to hold up to 20 million keystrokes before showing wear.

On the back we find the logo of the brand that this time is part of the lighting system as well as the side ring and the wheel.

At the bottom we see the laser sensor and three Teflon surfers for a very smooth glide.

At the end of the 1.8 meter USB cable we find the gold-plated USB connector for better conservation over time and better contact.

Razer Synapse 2.0 Software

We now turn to see the Razer Synapse software that we must download from the official Razer website and install it on our computer. Once installed, it will immediately recognize the mouse and proceed to update the firmware to ensure the best possible operation. It is possible to use the mouse without installing this application, although we strongly recommend doing so to take full advantage of it.

Once the firmware has been updated, we can access the application to take full advantage of our new Razer Mamba Tournament Chorma mouse. We are dealing with a product with Chroma lighting, so this section is one of the most extensive within the Razer Synapse application. We have the possibility to configure the lighting in color, intensity and light effects to better adapt it to our tastes.

  • Wave: Swap the color scale and make a customizable wave effect in two directions. Spectrum Cycle: Cycles of all colors. Breathing: It allows us to choose 1 or 2 colors and they alternate for several seconds. Chroma Experience: Make a color combination starting from the equator of the mouse. Static: A single fixed color. Custom themes.

The software is not limited to controlling the lighting since from here we can configure the 9 programmable buttons to assign different functions, create and manage macros and various aspects that affect the operation of the sensor such as adjusting the DPI in ranges of 100 from 100 DPI up to 16, 000 DPI, acceleration of movement and ultrapolling in 1000, 500 and 125 Hz. It also offers us the possibility of adjusting the sensitivity of the X and Y axes in addition to calibrating the sensor with the surface of our mat.

Finally we can create various profiles and even associate them with games and applications so that they load automatically when they are opened.

Final words and conclusion

After having been using the Razer Mamba Tournament Chroma for several days we can now make a fair assessment. It is an excellent mouse with one of the best sensors that we can find in the market, it is combined with the power of the Razer Synapse software with what it has to offer. In essence we are dealing with a Razer Mamba that has had its wireless system removed and a cable has been put in place to make it more economical and attractive for users who do not want wireless peripherals.

In short, the Razer Mamba Tournament Chroma is without a doubt one of the best mice on the market and well worth trying. We can find it for sale for an approximate price of 75 euros, a figure that seems somewhat high but it is not so much if we take into account the great quality of the product and everything it offers us.
