One of the most innovative headphones of this year 2016 has been sent to us by Razer, leader in the manufacture of gamer peripherals. It is the Razer ManO'War with wireless system and high fidelity audio without latency for impressive sound quality. They include a noise-canceling microphone that promises a very natural voice and an attractive customizable lighting system. Do you want to know more about them? Do not miss our analysis. Here we go!
We appreciate the trust in Razer for the transfer of the product for analysis.
Razer ManO'War 7.1 technical characteristics
Unboxing and design
Now, Razer has decided to go for a different model, which loses the wireless connection capacity, but, on the other hand, costs less and maintains the same attractive design and construction materials.
Once we open the box and remove the plastic blister we find a bundle consisting of:
- Razer ManO'War 7.1 Headphones. USB Adapter. Quick Start Guide. Warranty Card. Stickers
If sound quality is one of the pluses of the Razer ManO'War 7.1, comfort is another. It is a very comfortable helmet and can easily be used for hours. The circumaural side pads are wide enough to avoid discomfort at the ends of the ears (sound isolation is reasonable) and the pad on the top support of the helmet where the head is lodged is completely comfortable.
The model in question is also lighter, which was to be expected. While the Razer ManO'War Wireless weighed 375 grams, this corded model weighs 332 grams. It is not an abysmal difference, but it is a small advantage, mainly in those long gaming sessions.
The only point to improve is the material used in the frame. You will not have any problem using these helmets, however, the type of plastic used in the frame conveys a feeling of something fragile, but we also get very picky in this mid-range / high-end gamer product range.
The concern here is in the transport of the helmet, since in normal use it is practically impossible to break it. As the earmuffs rotate 90 degrees, it may happen that a force is produced inside a backpack or suitcase that pushes the earmuffs to the limit.
Audio volume control can be done manually on a small controller embedded in the connecting cable. It is also in this controller where you can disable the microphone.
This is a difference compared to the wireless ManO'War (in this model the audio controls were on the left earbud).
The sound quality maintains the standards that Razer accustomed us to in their helmets, and they are not inferior to the wireless version of the ManO'War. The sound is crisp, powerful, enveloping and emphasizes the bass.
It is not surprising, since if you look at the specifications of the Razer ManO'War 7.1, we see that it has the same 50 mm diaphragms.
With 50mm diaphragms, the ManO'War 7.1 allows users to customize the peripheral's virtual 7.1 surround sound from the free Razer Synapse software available to PC gamers.
Hidden in the left earmuff, it is a versatile digital microphone, which can be easily removed and adjusted to the desired position when necessary. Equipped with an algorithm optimized to generate more natural sounds and clearer voice reproduction, the Razer ManO'War 7.1's digital microphone surpasses the resources of traditional analog microphones. An LED indicator is also included on the microphone bar so you always know when you're streaming.
Inside the box we also find a USB DAC (analog to digital signal) adapter. This little adapter is a virtual 7.1 surround sound engine with the purpose of offering greater immersion and the sense of action of the game. And that we can configure from the management software.
The engine processes audio with low latency and simulates 360-degree audio. In addition, it gives the peripheral a noise-free sound, both on PC and Mac.
The first advantage of this new model is the greater freedom in the type of connection. The Razer ManO'War 7.1 has a 3.5mm analog connection, which means it is compatible with the vast majority of devices. You can connect it to the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, Nintendo 3DS and to your smartphone.
The cable is long enough for normal use, but if for some reason you need the cable to be longer, you will find an extender in the product box. It should be noted that both the helmet cable and the extender come with an interlocking fiber coating for durability.
Synapse management software
PC users can customize the sound with the Razer Synapse, a free software provided by the manufacturer. It is a calibration and EQ tool that runs as a background process on your computer, and it has a number of tools that include a simple bass boost and sound normalizer.
Simply turn on the subwoofer to provide a noticeable bump for game effects. But where it really matters is with the EQ, which has separate sliders for each frequency block, ranging from 125Hz to 16kHz.
WE RECOMMEND YOU Asus Maximus IX Hero Review in Spanish (Complete analysis)Spending time configuring the channels provides tremendous benefits, and transforms the entire audio, making it more dynamic. It must also be said that since Synapse is so good in its function, you do not feel the need to download the free software 'Surround Pro' that Synapse asks if you want to download. Synapse is a suitable tool to create virtual surround sound for normal speakers or headphones.
What does the application allow us to adjust? I detail it quickly:
- Create profiles. Modify brightness, sound intervals and see battery life. Adjust lighting effect and create actions. In addition to get the most out of it with automatic firmware updates from the device options of the application.
Words and conclusion about Razer ManO'War 7.1
The Razer ManO'War 7.1 is a wired gaming headset that shields us with the best sound coverage and the possibility of using its retractable microphone in long games.
Another of its great advantages is its great adaptation in our head and that they do not stick heat during sessions of several hours. We also liked that it can be easily saved, since we can fold.
We recommend reading our guide to the best PC Gamer helmets.
Its Synapse software allows us to customize the sound to the maximum and improve the 7.1 effect with a good calibration. Got it on Razer!
Currently we can find it in online stores for a price of 109 euros. It is not a price within the reach of all budgets, but if you are looking for quality gaming helmets without a doubt this is one of the best options.
