Razer viper ultimate: the new king of wireless mice?

The next mouse to be released is the Razer Viper Ultimate , a worthy upgrade of technologies for the possible new best wireless mouse of the moment.

We all know that Logitech is a benchmark in the world of wireless gaming peripherals, but that was because Razer did not set out to beat it. Recently, we have attended a small closed presentation where we have been shown the new peripheral that you are reading.

The Razer Viper Ultimate is a revision of the original Viper , but far from being a slight update, we are going to see important changes in both the model and the brand.

We have tested it in the same offices of Razer and we have found it a peripheral of 10. It is a very light, versatile mouse and with a precision that is strangely natural to us.

As a benchmark for e-Sports , we have tested its features in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and we have to say that the movement was impeccable and the response excellent. While this is highly subjective, we think we can compare it to other high-end mice, where the Viper Ultimate comes out favored.

As a curiosity, in a small game many journalists have not been able to differentiate the Viper Ultimate from the original (both had a cable, but only one was connected). This shows us how advanced this type of technology is, where cutting cables is no longer a cause for concern.

As a detail, they have allowed me to use a unit to write this article and the truth is that the desktop experience is also very good. However, before talking about the changes that this mouse brings, we have to tell you about the only drawback (if we can call it that) of this peripheral: the weight.

Despite the fact that the structure of the mouse has not changed too much, you will see in its specifications that it has increased in weight to 74.6g (approximately 5g extra) . However, we believe that this is the only sacrifice we make, if we do not count the final price.

We think that it is not really a problem, since it is still below the 80g of the Logitech G Pro and, in addition, due to different claims from professional players. According to Razer , in e-Sports they always prefer a light peripheral, of course, but not too much and they estimate that the best point is between 69g and 75g, approximately.

New mouse, new technologies

As we have said before, the new Razer Viper Ultimate brings much more news than we would expect in a model update. This mouse could be compared to the change between DeathAdder and its evolution the DeathAdder Elite , since in many ways it is directly better than its predecessor.

Although without further delay, let's dive into the data that you will surely be interested in knowing.

Optical switches

The first novelty of the future Razer mice is that they will bring for the first time optical switches created by the same brand.

If you are not very aware, gaming top mice usually have mechanical switches, but the optical ones (those that use light) are faster, more reliable and more durable. Instead of relying on two pieces to make a physical mechanism, it works by light sensors that are turned on or off.

This allows the response to be almost instantaneous, less breakable, and much more reliable. According to Razer , some users report experiencing double clicks and other flaws in according to what marks due to failures in the physical mechanism of the switches.

Hyperspeed Wireless Technology

On the other hand, they have announced the Hyperspeed Wireless technology, which despite sounding very bombastic, claims to outperform the best in the environment. It was directly compared to Logitech's Lightspeed and they guarantee up to 25% faster transfer speeds , as well as a more stable transmission.

This has allowed them to offer a mouse with a higher DPI (up to 20, 000) and a higher IPS (650) , which translates into a better resolution precision of 99.6% (better than the current champion's 99.4%) .

Also, future mice will have three support technologies (Smart Tracking, Asymmetric Cut-off and Motion Sync) which will allow us to have a more faithful experience to reality. Furthermore, among these three, this latest technology will slightly improve some problems present in other wireless technologies.

If the Logitech G Pro works like a wired mouse, Razer's new wireless technology optimizes sensor tracking to make it even better.

Battery and autonomy

Finally, we will talk about the battery, since this new technology is not only more precise, but also more efficient. The company ensures around 70h of use for the Razer Viper Ultimate and we can charge it through a special stand created by the same brand.

This wireless charger uses two metal pins and magnets, and best of all, it will be a standard for future Razer mice.

As a positive point, it is very easy to use, it has rubbers to increase adherence and we can connect the USB antenna there. As a negative point, we can only buy the Razer Viper Ultimate with said wireless port, so the price shoots up to € 169.99.

Although it may seem like a lot, the Logitech G Pro (its direct competition) is at a very similar price and has still established itself as one of the best mice for e-Sports .

Final words on the Razer Viper Ultimate

We believe that the bet Razer has just taken is a very risky one, but one that has nevertheless managed to fight very well.

Currently, we believe that it has all the key points to be the king of mice as it is light, reliable and versatile. In addition, it is ambidextrous and has an excellent premium feel, so many users of different grips will be comforted.

We wish it could be purchased without the wireless charging port at a lower price, but as we have been informed, that is something that will come out in the future (late 2019 / early 2020) . Not for nothing, for the price it has, it is a quite advisable mouse if you want to take video games seriously or simply if you have money left over.

For this reason, we highly recommend the Razer Viper Ultimate so that you can try yourself using the best mouse on the market. Well, although we have already repeated it several times, this title is something that has to be won freehand, but we believe that it has all the characteristics to “win the Oscar” .

Regarding other topics, in the closed presentation they told us about other products that the company will soon release. They are all very interesting and have similar improvements to the Viper Ultimate and best of all, not all are as expensive as this product.
