Red Dead Redemption 2 is going to be one of the most demanding PC releases of 2019, even without support for Ray Tracing. Rockstar adapts the already attractive console versions of Red Dead Redemption 2 to create something that future generations of hardware can aspire to.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will not be playable in 4K @ 60fps with graphics maxed out

Nvidia has released its list of recommended GPUs for Red Dead Redemption 2, claiming that the Geforce RTX 2080 Ti will not be able to with Red Dead Redemption 2 at 4K 60FPS at high settings, but will require a mix of medium and high settings. The Rockstar game will also feature Ultra settings, meaning 4K 60FPS at maximum settings is well above the capabilities of current graphics hardware.

An RTX 2080 Ti will not be enough

Speculation is that the 'Media' setting of Red Dead Redemption 2 will offer graphics similar to the console versions of the video game. This means that RDR2 will look great, even at these lower graphics settings. Although some will use this factor to say that the game is not well optimized, it is possible that the game was built with future generations of GPUs in mind and not the current one.

For 1080p @ 60FPS in High configuration, Nvidia recommends its RTX 2060 graphics card. Nvidia recommends its RTX 2070 Super to be able to play up to 1440p 60FPS in High configuration. As we mentioned before, for 4K, Nvidia recommends its RTX 2080 Ti for 60FPS gameplay in mid / high settings.

The game will be available in the next few hours for PC. Visit the official page of the game for more info.
