This week, the official iOS application of Reddit, the news and current site with a social focus, has received an important update that incorporates various new functions and adjustments that will allow the official version to compete with other third-party applications that are already very popular with users, such as Apollo.

In the new version of Reddit for iOS, the new "Theater Mode" has been created to allow iPhone and iPad users to view GIFs, photos and videos in full screen in both portrait and landscape mode. In addition to this, another new option will allow you to open the links in Safari instead of in the browser that the application itself has integrated.

Along with the above, there are also live comments and a new chat function, which has previously been in a beta or test version on the main Reddit site. With this, from now on, users will be able to make comments and debate on breaking news and "trending topics" in real time, while with the chat function they will be able to engage in one-to-one conversations.

Also the moderator function of the site has received improvements because now there is a new mode that, activating it, allows the moderators to approve, delete or mark content on the site, while the "Modification Queue" function makes it much easier to manage subreddits it in large strings. In addition, other functions like prohibit or mute have been simplified.

Reddit is currently targeting a younger audience, hence its interest in mobile platforms, with 330 million monthly active users and more than 9 million posts per month.
