The first thing we see is the already familiar Mars Gaming series logo, along with a photo of a mouse that turns out to be the Tacens Mars Gaming MM3 model.

On the back we see the measurements, along with the detail of the rubber base, some marketing of the auto-track system, and the same comment that Razer makes about that it is quality aluminum similar to aviation (come on, all-aluminum lifetime).

The packaging is particularly good, with foam on both sides to avoid any scratches or deformation due to poor transport or storage, followed by a sealed plastic bag. The presentation is worthy of any high-end mouse mat without a doubt.

Entering the matter, we find ourselves with a mat that has little to envy top-of-the-range models, with a touch similar to that which other unpainted aluminum mats have already accustomed us, such as the Razer Manticor, this Tacens being somewhat less soft to the touch, but in exchange faster in the displacement.

The size is quite generous, somewhat larger than the popular Roccat Alumic, with 348x280mm allowing us to use it both horizontally and vertically with the assurance that we will not have to lift the mouse.

The surface is quite smooth to the touch, with a rather fine polishing but not completely smooth, to give the optical sensors a good reading and a better feeling of control. Detail of the surface polishing, with a coin for comparison and using the same focus and distance without anything else.

We note that the real color is somewhat lighter than that seen in the photos, with a metallic silver color, instead of the dark silver that we could intuit.

The thickness is correct, with a thin aluminum plate and rubber base, adding between the two 3mm:

We finish with the rear, a very good quality rubber base, which unfortunately, although it gives good support, allows a few millimeters of clearance in various directions, and does not grip completely on the most polished surfaces.

Although this last point is not enough to tarnish the outstanding general image of this mat, we will have to lower the score of a perfect score for this small snag. It is very possible that in future models, if they maintain the level correcting this section, we will talk about mats of 10.

conclusion

Despite some minor drawbacks, such as a rubber base that has enough grip but less than competitive models like the aforementioned Roccat Alumic (which is almost impossible to move without lifting it), we are frankly impressed that tacens has managed to get a product with such good quality and finishes for a price that falls below € 15 in many Spanish stores.

Its other great drawback is the one that all the aluminum mats have, which is somewhat cold to the touch, especially in winter, however many users, including myself, prefer this for precision, good glide, and durability compared to cloth or laminated aluminum mats, even if it takes some getting used to.

The rest are all good things. After about 3 weeks of fairly intensive use, the surfers of our G700s are like the first day, proof that the level of polishing of the aluminum is adequate. The touch is very good, and it is one of the fastest mousepads we have tested, at a level quite superior to any fabric mousepad, especially recommended for shooters but also comfortable for other games or even office use if we want to take care of our mouse.

A great purchase that is hard to regret. Even if we are not convinced after trying an aluminum mat, it is worth it just to test the surface, and the price is no longer an excuse.
