Bitfenix Colossus Mini ITX

Bitfenix sends us the Colossus Mini ITX in a large volume cardboard box with a considerable weight, this small one looks very good… On the cover we see a normal box where the company logo and the name of the large model predominate. In the back we have a guide to the benefits of the team and on the sides technical characteristics.

Inside it is protected by a plastic and polystyrene bag. A package of 10!

The Bitfenix Colossus Mini ITX has a size of 25.0 x 33.0 x 37.4 cm, that is, to be an ITX we can consider it a little big. Its design is incredible and I can define it as a TOP and unique box.

It reminds me a lot of the Bitfenix Prodigy but with a more futuristic and elegant touch. On the front we find the company logo with two areas where Lite Trak technology separates. What does it consist of? It is a multi-node uninterrupted lighting system that gives a throbbing sensation.

The upper area has a window that allows us to soundproof the interior and access the optical reader and front fan. All with a fairly efficient filter system.

Now we stop in the upper area where we find a hatch that allows us to access two holes for two 120 mm fans. This zone is ideal for increasing cooling or mounting a compact liquid cooling system.

Both sides are identical, the only difference we run into is that on the right we have 2 USB 3.0 connections, audio input / output, the reset and power buttons.

In the rear area we have the outlet for the 120mm fan with the possibility of installing a 140mm fan. Screws without the need for tools and in the area of the floor 4 premium rubber feet. We have already improved the 4 plastic supports of the Prodigy.

Its interior is quite familiar to us, it allows us to install an ITX format motherboard, a graphics card of up to 33 cm double slots, 5 hard drives, an ATX power supply and with effort and patience it will allow us to organize the interior wiring.

Front led detail.

The cooling is quite complete because it allows us to create a very efficient air flow. In the upper area it allows us to install 2 12 cm fans, one 12 cm rear and one in the front are already incorporated. Complementary to the front we can install another 12 cm or one of 23 cm.

The power supply must be careful, because it only supports ATX size with standard length. It seems ideal to me to mount a 600W with modular management to leave the assembly as collected as possible.

The equipment allows us to install up to 5 hard drives, three of them in an auxiliary cabin, both 2.5 ″ and 3.5 ″.

If we remove the optional hard drive booth it allows us to install any graphics card on the market, losing 3 hard drive bays. For example, it allows us to install a GTX 980/970, an extra long one like the 290X or the GTX690 dual-core GPU.

A picture is worth a thousand words…

In the first image you can see the Gigabyte Z97N Wifi mounted without any problem, and in the second you can see the USB 3.0 connections and those of the control panel. Optionally, it includes a small external thief and all the sufficient hardware to install the entire system.

Bitfenix has done a great job with the Colossus ITX, it is an ITX format box, with elegant finishes and a truly futuristic design. We highlight the black color and its RGB LED system technology: Like Trak..

What can we install in this box? An ITX motherboard, a high-end or compact graphics card, up to 5 hard drives, a high-profile heatsink, an ATX power supply, and even a 240mm dual-rack AIO liquid cooling system.

In our tests we have used 120mm liquid cooling and a high-end graphics card. Really good results with 28ºC in idle and 42ºC in full processor (maximum load).

In short, if you are looking for a high-end itx box, with a brutal design and efficient cooling. The Bitfenix Colossus ITX is the perfect candidate. Its store price ranges from € 90, a price that we see very fair.
