We analyzed our first power supply from the Chinese giant LC-Power. This is the LC-Power Arkangel LC8850II, 850w modular source with bronze certificate.

LC-Power wanted to pay tribute to the popular Shin Megami Tensei game on playstation 2 with the name of some callable characters: Metraton, which merges with the four archangels.

The power supply is 850W and is modular (hybrid). It complies with all security measures (OVP, OCP, OPP, OTP and SCP) and with the 80 PLUS bronze certificate, which will give us 82% efficiency.

In the other side we have the sticker with the technical characteristics. Where we really see that it is a 750w source, but is capable of withstanding 850w spikes.

The Arkangel LC8850 II comes equipped with a 140mm fan, specifically a 2800 RPM Loon D14BH-12 Yacht and a 140 CFM.

The source includes support for 4 PCI-E connections (red) and four others for SATA / PATA connections.

To check at what level our source works, we have monitored its energy consumption and its voltage stability. For this, we have used a versus with the Antec HCG900 with 80 PLUS Bronze certificate.

The new LC-Power Arkangel LC8850II v2.3 brings modularity among its most important features. It is appreciated to avoid the accumulation of unnecessary cables. That almost always does not allow us the correct circulation of the air flow.

The font is 80 PLUS Bronze certified for its excellent CWT core. Its efficiency is 82%, that is, 750W (supports peaks of up to 850W). The Yateloon D14BH-12 fan is very quiet at low revs. Although in our test bench we have stressed the power supply, and we really liked its low noise.

Regarding its performance it is excellent. It has been able to drive an i7 2600k at 4.8ghz and a GTX560 Ti at 1GHZ without issue. Although it does not have a SLI / CF certificate, it can carry any multi-GPU configuration without problems, thanks to its 60A rail.

LC-Power LC8850 II v2.3 can be found in the Coolmod online store for € 107. It is without a doubt, one of the best modular PSU alternatives in quality / price.
