The Phanteks PH-TC14PE is divided into two aluminum bodies, this configuration allows us to install up to three fans. Both the bases and the 5 heatpipes are made of silver nickel-plated copper. The heatsink includes two PH-F140 fans of 140 mm at 1200 RPM, which will provide us with excellent performance.

They have implemented CPSC (Cold Plasma Spraying Coating Technology) technology, increasing the efficiency of heat transmission. It also includes PATS (Physical Antioxidant Thermal Shield) technology that prevents the reception of external energy, such as the graphics card.

The Phanteks PH-TC14PE comes in a thick case capable of cushioning any bumps. Front and back of the box.

As we see in the following image, the heatsink is perfectly protected with foam rubber.

The box includes:

  • Phanteks PH-TC14PE-OR heatsink. 2 14 cm fans PH-F140. Accessories: Thermal paste, rheostat, cable and, 6 anchors. Intel and AMD kit. Instruction manual.

Heatsink front view.

Side view.

It has 5 nickel-plated copper heatpipes.

Its sheets have a considerable thickness, in addition to an ideal separation.

Top view of the heatsink.

The heatsink has a nickel-silver copper base. Bring a protective sticker to save the base from any specks of dust or scratches.

Includes two PH-F140TS-OR fans. It has a fairly quiet “UFB bearing” (Updraft Floating Balance bearing).

The fan does not include PWM function when carrying a 3-pin connector.

Instructions manual in Spanish.

Its accessories include: thermal paste that reminds us of PK1-, anti-vibration tapes and standard installation support.

It also includes screws for the installation of the fans to the box, a rheostat and a Y thief.

Includes 6 fan retention clips.

These are the accessories that we will need to mount the heatsink in the Intel socket.

The first thing we must do is install the blacktape on the back of our motherboard and insert the 4 screws:

We insert the 4 rubber blocks and the two supports.

We apply the thermal paste. Next we place the heatsink on top of our processor and then tighten the three screws.

We recommend installing the anti vibration rubbers.

We already have the heatsink installed. Now we are going to install the fans.

Clips detail.

We insert the fans. The anchoring system can be seen in the following image.

We already have it installed! On Intel platforms we can choose between a vertical or horizontal configuration. With its advantages and disadvantages of each one. Vertical configuration.

Horizontal configuration.

We recommend installing low profile memory like Kingston Hyperx Genesis or G.Skill X Ripjaws. Memory in vertical configuration.

And in horizontal configuration.

Distance between heatsink and socket.

This is the AMD kit.

We will start by removing the blackpate, but we will leave the rear support.

We place the four rubber blocks.

We screw the four screws with our AMD kit.

To finish we apply the thermal paste, we install the heatsink tightening the three screws (same as in the Intel steps). At AMD we only have one position;).

To test the actual performance of the heatsink we are going to stress the CPU with full memory floating point calculation (Linx) and prime number (Prime95) programs. Both programs are well known in the overclocking sector and serve to detect failures when the processor works 100% for long hours.

How are we going to measure the processor temperature?

We will use the internal sensors of the processor. For this test on Intel and AMD processors we will use the “Core Temp” application in its version: 0.99.8. It is not the most reliable test, but it will be our reference in all our analyzes. The test bench will be around 29º ambient temperature.

In our test bench we will use the following 12v fans:

  • 2 x PH-F140TS 1200 RPM at 12v3 x Scythe Nidec Servo 1850 RPM at 12v

We will check its performance with the RL Corsair H60 and H80 kits.

We leave you with the results of our tests:

This is our first contact with a Phanteks product. We had a hunch that the Phanteks PH-TC14PE was going to surprise us, and it has been. The performance offered is extraordinary. As we see in our table, it is positioned as the king of air cooling. The difference between the Corsair H80 and it has been up to 6ºC. Although not everyone likes closed liquid cooling kits.

The secret of the efficiency of the heatsink is in the use of 5 8 mm diameter heatpipes and the incorporation of PSC (Cold Plasma Spraying Coating Technology) technologies, increasing the efficiency of heat transmission and PATS (Physical Antioxidant Thermal Shield) that decreases external energies, such as heatsinks on the motherboard, power supply…).

We liked both the mounting mechanism and the wide range of accessories. We have to highlight the manual in 4 languages (English, German, French and Spanish) that will help us to answer any questions during the installation.

Includes two 140mm 1200RPM Phanteks PH-F140 fans offering excellent performance. It also provides us with 6 fan hooks, which will allow us to install up to three fans. To overcome doubts in our tests we have used 3 Nidec Servo GT fans at 1850 RPM (with 4 Megahalems hooks). These have been able to lower up to 3ºC. We believe that with a third PH-F140 fan we would equalize the performance and lower the loudness.

We can find four versions available:

  • PH-TC14PE (White): € 79.90
  • PH-TC14PE_BL (Blue): € 84.95
  • PH-TC14PE_OR (Orange): € 84.95
  • PH-TC14PE_RD (Red): € 84.95

In short, we have analyzed the best heatsink on the market. In addition to its fantastic performance, it is backed by a 5 year warranty. The only negative note is its high price of € 85. But as a general rule, good is paid for.
