Review: scythe ashura

Anonim

Scythe, a company recognized among all enthusiasts, is increasingly expanding its product catalog. With successful creations with an excellent relationship, performance / silence. They know that the best product ideas come simply from knowing customers' needs and expectations. Based on this philosophy, the PC enthusiasts working at Scythe know what to develop because that is exactly what we would like to have for us too!

True to their ideals, this time we present the Scythe ASHURA, a heatsink that offers a large block of aluminum fins that receives heat from a nickel-plated copper base through 6 copper heatpipes. It includes a 140mm PWM fan, although we can install a second unit on the opposite side in push / pull mode.

Scythe ASHURA in detail

The design of the box does not go unnoticed, with a lot of color and a medium size, the Scythe ASHURA, we are presented in many languages.

On one of its sides, they show us specifications and a detail of the dimensions of the heatsink

The heatsink is multisocket, with that we ensure that it will have a long life at our side, if we ever change the platform.

The bundle included is as follows:

  • Scythe ASHURA heatsink Accessories for all Intel and AMD sockets. Fixing plate. 140 mm V entilator. GlideStream Thermal Paste User Manual

Once the Scythe Ashura was unpacked, we were faced with a large block of aluminum fins measuring 145 x 65 x 161 mm. and quite heavy (750g ) Its height of 161 mm will make it little compatible with small format boxes, so we will have to pay attention to the maximum height of the heatsink that our tower allows before buying it. The design is simple, but robust and with good finishes.

As we can see in the following image, the separation is quite large between the fins, that makes the heatsink perform very well with fans at low revolutions, winning silently.

The very well finished top, with the brand's logo hides the heatpipes, and gives it a sober and elegant look.

The nickel-plated copper base is crossed by the 6 heatpipes and on its upper side it has channels through which the air flow will circulate helping to further dissipate the heat and serve as part of the anchorage of the heatsink to the base plate.

The fan included in the Scythe Ashura is 140 x 140 x 25 mm with an innovative design, increasingly widespread, allowing it to be installed in 120 mm screwdriver spaces. It offers the possibility of setting its revolutions between 500 and 1300 RPM, under a noise level of 13-30.7 dBA. The blades are grated to make it quieter if possible, while its cable with a 4-wire mesh connector allows PWM control.

Newly developed mounting system

Another new feature that can be seen is the Ashura's new mounting system. The mount was designed with the keyword "simplicity" and "reliability" in mind. GlideStream 140 PWM The 140mm PWM GlideStream covers all refrigeration areas. Capable of working both very quietly, as well as with maximum cooling capacity, make a perfect team with the new Ashura CPU cooler.

To test the actual performance of the heatsink we have stressed the Intel processor i7-4770K with Cinebench, rendering an image over multiple passes. The processor has been chimed to the not inconsiderable figure of 4.5 Ghz. To really see the potential of this heatsink

How are we going to measure the processor temperature?

We will use the internal sensors of the processor. For that test in Intel processors we will use an application of my favorites, openhardwaremonitoring, this application gives us exact temperatures, from the internal sensors of the processor, we can also monitor it to see voltages, frequencies, or temperatures of any component of our equipment.

If we look at the image, we can see that at rest the heatsink keeps the processor between 29/34 degrees, and once set to 100% it keeps the 4770K oceanized at 4.5 Ghz between 63 and 69 degrees the coolest / hottest core.

Quite a feat, if we know a little about the subject of the welding of these processors…

Final words and conclusion

The Scythe ASHURA is a heatsink for high-end systems thanks to its excellent materials (nickel-plated copper and aluminum). You have to be especially careful with its dimensions as it will not enter any tower. Its compatibility with high profile ram memory is very good, but I recommend using low profile if we want to occupy the 4 sockets.

We can install a total of two 140mm fans which will undoubtedly make us scratch some degree more at temperatures

ADVANTAGE

DISADVANTAGES
