Review: scythe mine 2

Anonim

Scythe is a prestigious Japanese brand specialized in the distribution of components for the domestic computer market.

This time they gave us the monstrous Scythe Mine 2 heatsink weighing 1.1kg. Let's see how it behaves with a high 2600k of nuts.

The Scythe MIne 2 comes protected in a robust box. In it we can take a picture of the trigger and the compatibility with all the sockets (except lga 2011).

Mine 2 overview.

The heatsink includes a 140mm Slip Stream fan and is divided into two towers.

Includes a total of 4 copper hetpipes per side.

The base is nickel plated and has the famous mirror reflection.

Side view of the trigger. It really allows us to install three fans. Imagine a 1kg heatsink plus two Scythe GTs at 1850 RPM.

The cable is meshed and is 4-pin (PWM functions).

Rehobus for PCI ports, which allows us to control the fan manually.

And all Intel and AMD anchors.

We have an instruction manual in several languages. That details the installation of the heatsink on the two platforms.

First we install the holding plate on the back of the plate.

Next we screw the two socket holders 1155.

Now is the time to fasten the back plate with the four rubber blocks and the screws.

We apply the thermal paste and screw in the screws.

TESTING BENCH

Intel 2600k 3.4GHZ

Base plate:

Asus MAXIMUS V GENE

Memory:

Graphic card

Nvidia Geforce GTX570

Box

Benchtable Dimastech Easy V2.5

To test the actual performance of the heatsink we are going to stress the CPU with full memory floating point calculation (Linx) and prime number (Prime95) programs. Both programs are well known in the overclocking sector and serve to detect failures when the processor works 100% for long hours.

We will use the internal sensors of the processor. For this test on Intel processors we will use the “Core Temp” application in its version: 0.99.8. It is not the most reliable test, but it will be our reference in all our analyzes. The test bench will be around 20 / 21ºC ambient temperature.

Let's see the results obtained:

The Scythe Mine 2 is a robust heatsink capable of paying off every single euro spent on it. Its 1.1kg weight and endless aluminum fins help efficiently cool the processor.

In our test bench it has behaved like a champion and one with an Intel i7 2600k OCeado at 4.6 ghz and the Asus Maximus V Gene, we have obtained the following results: 36ºC idle and 70ºC in full.

WE RECOMMEND YOU New ID-Cooling SE-812i heatsink for Intel platforms

In the case of incorporating two more fans (with their respective anchors), we would be in front of an all-terrain vehicle at the best market price. Let us remember that its acquisition hardly costs € 30 and any pocket can be made with it.

ADVANTAGE

DISADVANTAGES

+ EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE.

- VERY HEAVY.

+ SILENT FAN AND PWM. - DOES NOT INCLUDE CLIPS TO ADD TWO FANS.

+ INCLUDES REHOBUS FOR PCI PORT.

+ PRICE.
