Review: scythe setsugen 2

Unfortunately, the market offers us few solutions to replace the reference heatsink on our graphics card. Scythe presents its Setsugen 2 heatsink with a 120mm fan and 6 copper heatpipes. These will help eliminate annoying noise and allow efficient cooling.

The back we see a good grill and the dissipation area for the chipset.

The fan is 120mm thin (12mm thick) and comes with two clips. The fan incorporates a PWM connector for its regulation by controller / manual rehobus.

We wanted to measure the temperature of the Scythe Setsugen 2 with a high-level graphics card: GTX570.

We will stress our to the graphics card with Furmark 1920 × 1080 for 20 minutes, which we consider to be long enough to evaluate the effectiveness of the heatsink. We have left the fan at 12v (full) and we have noticed some noise. However, we can always regulate it with the external controller. Let's see the results obtained:

In this analysis we have verified the effectiveness of the heatsink gaining up to 15º C (from 75ºC to 60ºC) in full and in idle only 2º C, with respect to the reference model. In addition to extending the life of the graphics card, by cooling the phases and memories with the included heatsinks. About 15-20 minutes we have installed the heatsink on our graphics card.

We remind you that the installation of these heatsinks voids the warranty for most graphics cards. In addition, the Scythe Setsugen 2 can be purchased for a recommended price of € 42.
