Review: steelseries sensei
Steelseries is inspired by Japanese names for its mice. For example Ikari means anger, Xai, talent. The new Sensei is Do Jo's Grandmaster version. Everyone's bow, the one who knows the secret tricks and moves that everyone wants to learn - but even a few may hope to master. It is an appropriate name. Master your game. Meet the Sensei.

The SteelSeries Sensei processor is a 32-bit ARM processor and it is as fast as the original Pentium 75 MHz processor released by Intel in 1994. Which is fast, very fast. This reference may seem like an exaggeration, but it is this type of power that allows us to make sophisticated calculations directly on the mouse - without the need for software drivers and without having to depend on the user's computer.
Industry leading ExactTech settings, such as ExactSens, ExactRate, ExactAim and more, are calculated directly on the mouse providing the user with a mouse movement that is completely free of any interpolation or extrapolation, without delay, filtering and without the use of the memory or resources on the user's computer.
With the LCD screen on the back of the Sensei SteelSeries, you can customize all the settings to suit your specific needs. The LCD menu offers configuration settings. To customize your logo, go to the web application: click here.
With the Steelseries Sensei we have 3 different zones (the wheel, the IPC indicator and the back) that we can customize with 16.8 million different colors. Imagine the color combinations you can make. It also comes with software for users who use multiple profiles: by giving them different colors, you can toggle between modes and ways to also know that the profile is active. For users who like shiny things on their desktop, you can completely change all the lighting.
Steelseries keeps its corporate colors in its box: red, white and black. In the front part the mouse is presented in the foreground. As usual in the back come all the features and news.
Once we open the cover, we find the mouse protected by a plastic blister.
The box includes:
- Steelseries Sensei Mouse Instruction Manual Installation Guide Steelseries Sticker
But where is the drivers or software? Steelseries looks for the environment and does not include CD. To download the applications and manual you can click here.
The mouse includes 8 buttons in total. 2 on the right side.
Two others on the left side.
The right button, the left button, the small wheel and the central button. All are customizable via software.
The wiring is meshed and the connector is gold plated.
The Sensei includes a high precision laser sensor, surfers (identical to Xai) and an LCD screen;).
The LCD screen is fully customizable with Steelseries Engine. In our case we have inserted our logo with BMP format and dimensions 128 x 32 px.
As we have previously commented, the LEDs can be modified by any color. We have carried out three color tests. Yellow:
Green:
Red:
The software is not included in the box but can be downloaded from the Steelseries website. It weighs approximately 30 megabytes. The following image shows company-defined settings. And special for games like Starcraft II, Medal Of Honor and WoW.
WE RECOMMEND YOU New Sennheiser 300 Pro Professional Headphone SeriesThe software allows us to save profiles. This allows us a wide range of possibilities when we are playing:).
Here we have the most important panel of the game. In it we can create profiles and modify all the mouse settings. From the sensation (DPI), the movement, the colors of the LEDs, the brightness / contrast of the LCD, LCD images and the accuracy of the mouse.
Finally we can see what profile we have loaded and a statistics section. Suitable for the most demanding gamers.
The Steelseries Sensei becomes the best mouse on the market. And that we have used more than 20 gaming mice. We really liked its perfect adaptation to both hands.
We have carried out exhaustive tests with the following games: Lef4 Dead 1 and 2, Starcraft 2, World Of Warcraft and Battelfield 3. In the shooter games he has behaved like a champion. Its precision is perfect and its buttons allow us to change weapons and profiles quickly. In World Of Warcraft we have configured our 4 favorite spells on the side buttons, this allows us greater effectiveness while playing.
We would also like to mention your management software. That allows us to make up to 5 profiles with different DPI, color combinations and profiles. In addition to inserting any BMP logo with the dimensions 128 x 32 px.
After performing this analysis, the Steelseries Sensei is our favorite mouse. The only downside is its price, which ranges from € 70. We consider it to be something high and not available to everyone.
