We are going to analyze the most complete helmets so far in the Mars Gaming range from Tacens. A rather aggressive aesthetic At a reduced price are the strengths of these headphones. As usual with gaming headsets, it's a unit with a USB connection, built-in folding microphone, and virtual 7.1 sound (expected in a kit at this price). Will it live up to our expectations and test bench? In this analysis we will leave doubts.

Technical characteristics

Tacens Mars Gaming MH4

The packaging is correct, not as ostentatious as other models, but the box complies, the headphones are visible on one side, and a CD with the drivers up to windows 8.1 comes. You can already guess the theme of the brand with black as the dominant color and secondary red.

A paper manual has not been included to reduce costs. Being a simple model to use we do not see it as something essential, but of course it is missing even if it is a scheme and list of buttons for less experienced users.

CD with drivers and software

As in the case of the Asus Strix 7.1, these cases include their own sound card and are connected via USB, so they are a very reasonable option to use on laptops with low quality sound cards, or on computers with integrated. With windows 8.1, just connect them and the drivers are installed automatically, all the buttons on the external module are functional, and we don't need to make any changes to make them the default audio device. Likewise, it is recommended to install the ones from the disk to use the advanced functions, and mandatory in the case of older operating systems.

External module detail

The installation is as simple as connecting and working, on the computer that we have carried out the test, with Windows 8.1, it has not been necessary to configure absolutely anything for the headphones to be fully functional.

Perhaps the aesthetic aspect is not as elaborate as in other models but without a doubt they achieve that aggressive aesthetic typical of the brand.

With the microphone picked up

Fantastic aesthetic

Very comfortable

Side view

The pads are of good quality, with fabric on the inside and synthetic leather on the outside. They isolate the exterior noise quite well, although in my personal case I miss that they were a little longer to describe these helmets as very comfortable without reservation. The height of the headband is adjustable, in this case completely manually. At the top we find soft gel pads to make them more comfortable to wear.

The LEDs of the helmets stand out in red, much more discreetly than in the Strix. The cable is of good quality, meshed in fabric, and the connector is gold plated as in most Tacens peripherals

The helmets include a foldable microphone, which offers sound quality far superior to low-end desktop microphones. Comparing it, subjectively, with a logitech desktop microphone, the sound is much louder (logical, being closer to the source) but also clearer and cleaner. The feeling of surround is reasonable, but in no case do we forget that we are dealing with virtual 7.1 sound, it is much more difficult to position sounds in games than with helmets that have 7 sound emitters in different positions.

The music performance is remarkable, with fairly clear sound overall, and fairly full bass for gaming headsets. In this regard, it is appreciated that they are stereo headphones with low impedance and not headphones designed for surround sound. Tacens has deliberately included a transformation into lower-frequency vibration, which while it can improve gaming immersion, in music sometimes spoils the experience a bit, without being annoying in any of the genres we've tried. Again it will be insufficient performance for music lovers with the highest quality, but for the average user it provides good listening for the vast majority of genres, especially rock, pop and metal in various variations.

WE RECOMMEND YOU Asus Z270G Strix Gaming Review in Spanish (Full Review)

A truly remarkable model, with excellent performance as gaming headsets for talking to our team, and quite acceptable performance for listening to music without high demands.

conclusion

We are facing very complete helmets, with a reasonable price, and with a quite aggressive aesthetic, even without reaching the levels of the Strix. Striking, but not exaggerated. The helmets are not foldable, the quality of materials in the pads and the insulation is good, and there is no really weak point. At less than 400g, they are light enough, although I would appreciate some slightly larger pads to make them really comfortable.

In this case, the price is really tight, and the little drawbacks, I would mainly say the small distortion in the bass when listening to music, and the little sense of position when playing, even in surround mode. Really complete helmets for those looking for a product oriented to games and voice chat with occasional music listening.
