Review: thermaltake water 2.0 performer

Anonim

  • High performance copper base accelerates heat conduction. High reliability offering fast liquid circulation by lowering temperature. Significantly reduces coolant replenishment problems. Low tube evaporation effectively reduces coolant loss. High Sealing technology prevents leakage or dripping. Dual automatic 120mm PWM fans that maximize performance and peace of mind.
  • The PWM function (1200rpm- 2000rpm) automatically adjusts the fan speed to minimize CPU heat.
  • Intel: LGA2011, LGA1366, LGA1156, LGA1155AMD: FM1, AM3 +, AM3, AM2 +, AM2

On the back of the box we have an image of the Liquid Refrigeration Kit. On the back we have a photo with all the most important features and specifications of the refrigerator.

The protection in these kits is essential due to the sensitivity of the block and the pump. And the whole bundle is protected from any blow in its transport.

As we see in the following image, the kit is super compact. It consists of a block (it incorporates a pump inside), flexible rubber tubing with a 13 ″ G5 / 8 measurement and a 120 mm radiator.

The radiator has an aluminum fin design with a thickness of 25mm. In it we can install one or two fans in Push / Pull configuration.

The radiator is printed with the Thermaltake logo and the series. The block is designed in copper and incorporates high quality thermal paste assembled by Asetek. The pump always works at 12v and 2800 RPM. Although it seems a lot of revolutions, it is not noisy at all and it is the quietest I have tried so far. Its connection goes to a 4-pin plug.

Although it is the most basic version, it includes two fans for a push & pull configuration. This will make us win 3-4ºC to the competition. In addition, being PWM fans it will be regulated by the motherboard itself, without the need for a rehobus. The white blades will always help the aesthetics of any team, whatever the color of the box and / or base plate.

Pin 4-pin fans.

The bundle is made up of:

  1. Thermaltake Water 2.0 Performer Liquid Cooling Kit Instruction Manual & Quick Guide Intel / AMD Accessories & Anchors. 2 Fan 1200 ~ 2000 RPM

Screws and accessories Intel 1155/1556/1366 and 2011.

Screws and accessories AM2 / AM3 / FM1.

Screws and washers for fixing the fans to the radiator.

In this specific case we are going to mount the liquid cooling kit on our i5 3570k test bench platform and an Asus Maximus IV Extreme. We are going to need your special hardware.

The base we are going to install it on the back of the motherboard. As you will see it has 4 female adapters that we will position it in zone 1155. Remaining like this:

Before installing the block. We recommend installing the 120mm radiator with its two fans:

Radiator mounted on the NZXT Switch 810 White.

We lightly fix the screws with the adapter. Let's not press too hard, we are going to install the block and we need a little "game" with it.

In 30 seconds we have already installed and fixed the four screws.

We have left to connect the cable of the pump and the fans to the motherboard.

And finished assembly!

To test the actual performance of the heatsink we are going to stress the Intel i5 3570k CPU (Socket 1155) with prime numbers (Prime95 custom) and its two high-speed Thermaltake fans. Prime95, is a well-known software in the overclocking sector and allows us to detect faults when the processor works 100% for long hours. It is the same case as LINX which stresses the CPU and memory at the same time.

How are we going to measure the processor temperature?

We will use the internal sensors of the processor. For this test on Intel processors we will use the “Core Temp” application in its version: 1.0 RC3 It is not the most reliable test, but it will be our reference in all our analyzes. The test bench will be around 29ºC ambient temperature.

Let's see the results obtained:

Thermaltake has been among the pioneers in thermal solutions for the PC for more than 20 years. Just a month ago, it launched its first generation of all-in-one liquid cooling on the market. This type of refrigeration is very well seen by specialists. And that? Why is it a system that avoids 500g or 1Kg of weight on top of the processor as well as aesthetically gaining and allows us to install any high profile memory model.

The version we have analyzed is the Performer, which is the “most basic range” of the three models that have been launched on the market (“PRO (45mm thick single radiator)” and “Extreme (double radiator)”). The main virtues of the Performer are: compact design, simple 120mm (25mm thick) radiator, copper base equipped with thermal paste and two white PWM fans.

In our test bench we have used one of the most popular and powerful processors on the market: i5 3570k at stock speeds and overclocked at 4500 mhz and 16GB DDR3 Kingston Predator at 2133mhz (high profile) doing a versus with the classic Corsair H60 and two Noctua NF-F12 fans. In all the tests the Thermaltake kit has won by 2 to 5ºC. For example: Prime95 at 4, 5GHZ 67ºC in FULL and 52ºC in STOCK. Great temperatures for a high-end processor such as the i5 3570k.

When we review sealed liquid cooling kits we have always been concerned about pump noise. And I have been very surprised because it does not emit any annoying noise or that we can perceive approaching it. It is certainly a great job by the Thermaltake team.

I would also like to highlight the quality of the design and components of the PWM (Motherboard Control) fans. They operate from 1200 to 2000 RPM depending on the needs of the processor without the need for a manual external controller or rehobus. And its compatibility with all Intel series on the market LGA2011, LGA1366, LGA1156, LGA1155 and Socket AMD: FM1, AM3 +, AM3, AM2 +, AM2. This allows us to reuse the kit before any update.

The price of the kit can be found in online stores over € 68. Very good price by incorporating two very good quality fans.
