In the leak of these last hours we can see the first motherboard with the Z270 chipset, which will take full advantage of the new Kaby Lake processors, which replace the Skylake generation.
Kaby Lake is compatible with current LGA-1151 socket motherboards and 100 series chipsets via a BIOS update. Thanks to the 200 series chipsets, a series of features will be added, such as the greater number of PCI-Express lines at 24, 5K video support, 10-bit HEVC acceleration and 10-bit VP9 (video format from Google), support for Thunderbolt 3, compatibility with Intel Optane and 3D Xpoint memory.
The ASUS ROG Strix Z270G has 4 DDR4 DIMM slots that can support up to a maximum of 64 GB with a maximum speed of 4000 MHz achievable through overclocking. Also included are two PCI-E 3.0 x16 (x16 / x8) slots, two PCI-e 3.0 x1 slots, and two M.2 SSD slots.
