Rx 5500, custom gpus would launch on December 12

The latest rumors indicate that AMD's Radeon RX 5500 graphics card based on the Navi 14 GPU will receive its own custom models starting December 12. Currently, the Radeon RX 5500 has only been released to the OEM market.

According to ITHome , AMD has informed partners AIBs internally that they can release their custom variants for the Radeon RX 5500 graphics card on December 12. AMD announced the Radeon RX 5500 series in early October, which means that the general public would have to wait at least two months before they can get their hands on the new Navi-based graphics card.

AMD Radeon RX 5500 is based on the Navi 14 GPU architecture. There are many variants of the Navi 14 GPU that are being produced. The one that goes into the line of discrete desktop products is rather a smaller version compared to the full variant that is presented in the new Apple Macbooks.

RX 5500 XT has 1408 SP, which means that there are 22 CUs or calculation units on the card. It also includes 88 TMUs and 32 ROPs with clock speeds rated at 1670 MHz base, 1717 MHz gaming, and 1845 MHz Turbo. The card manages to deliver up to 5.19 TFLOPs of computing performance at 110W. There is also 4 GB of GDDR6 memory on the card that runs through a 128-bit bus, providing a cumulative bandwidth of 224 GB / s.

In terms of raw performance, AMD officially compares the card to Nvidia's GTX 1650, which has been replaced by the GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER.

It is said to be up to 37% faster than the GTX 1650 on average at 1080p resolution across multiple titles. We should note that the OEM version includes a standard heat sink, while the AIBs will add better GPU coolers and higher frequencies to improve performance.
