Today we were able to confirm that the company's next Navi GPU, which was first introduced earlier this week and which is set to power the company's next RX 5700 series graphics cards, is indeed a top-of-the-line Navi. medium with an area of ​​approximately 255 mm².

This is comparable to Polaris 10 (RX 480/580) which had 232mm², if we compare it to Pitcairn (HD 7870 / R9 270X) it had 212mm² and if we go back in time to an RV770 HD 4870 chip) which had 256 mm².

AMD has achieved something very interesting here at a technological level. Compared to NVIDIA, the RTX 2070 with TU-106-400 GPU is almost twice the size of 445mm², for virtually the same performance. In fact, the Navi RX 5700 series GPU is even smaller than the 284mm² TU116, which powers NVIDIA's GTX 1660 graphics cards.

Obviously, this is due to the leap towards a smaller 7nm node, versus a 12nm node from NVIDIA's Turing architecture.

As it is rumored, the price of RX 5700 would not be lower than RTX 2070, but would move in the same price range. If this is true, AMD's offering would not be enough to beat the RTX 2070.
