There's a ton of new information on AMD's upcoming Radeon RX series, based on Navi, that will include the Navi 12 and Navi 14 GPUs. This time we have information about RX 5800 and RX 5600.

Details on Radeon RX 5800 and RX 5600

It looks like AMD would have a complete lineup versus the RTX SUPER series and conventional GTX cards with its own budget and high-end options. This means that the RX 5800 series will compete against the RTX 2080 and the RX 5600 against the mid-range and low-end GTX options.

The Navi 12 GPU will power the Radeon RX 5800 series and Navi 14 to the RX 5600 series of GPUs, in case AMD wants to launch different models of each.

According to 3DCenter user Berniyh. The user delved into the latest Linux driver for AMD graphics cards and found identifications for both the Navi 14 and Navi 12 GPUs.

What was found in the drivers is the following:

  • 619 case CHIP_ NAVI12: 620 info-> num_sdp_interfaces = 16; 622 CHIP_ NAVI14: 623 info-> num_sdp_interfaces = 8; 3984 if (AMDGPU_IS_ NAVI10 (pInfo-> FamilyID, pInfo-> erevId)) 3994 pInfo-nffxsfx 16;

The two details mentioned in the listings are the pc_lines and num_sdp_interfaces interfaces. 3DCenter says these two details would help distinguish which GPU is the high-end variant and which is the low-end variant of AMD. Just by the number of sdp_interface, Navi 12 can be said to be close to Navi 10 with 16 sdp_interface interfaces while Navi 14 has half the sdp_interface interfaces of both chips.

According to the specifications published by 3DCenter, the Navi 12 GPU could offer between 30 and 50% more streaming processors than the Navi 10, which reaches a maximum of 2560 SPs. The source does not rule out the possibility of obtaining HBM2 memory together with this series.

Navi 14 will power the Radeon RX 5600. There have been multiple leaks for these cards and we have seen three different variants including 3GB '7340: CF', 4GB '7340: C1' and 8GB '7341: 00' VRAM. These variants showed different performance metrics, with the 3GB variant falling on par with the Radeon RX 570 and the other two outperforming the Polaris cards by a slight margin. These variants were still very early engineering samples and there is still room for improvement that can be seen in the final variants. Other specifications include 1536 SPs with 24 CUs and clock speeds of up to 1900 MHz.

The use of GDDR6 memory is mentioned, but with a 128-bit interface. Possibly AMD's strategy is to replace Polaris RX 570/580/590 graphics cards with this RX 5600 series.
