Ryzen 7 1800x @ 5.8ghz, new overclocking record
Table of contents:
Ryzen does it again, thanks to its great oveclocking capabilities, it has broken a new record with the Ryzen 7 1800X processor, reaching a speed of 5.8GHz.
Ryzen 7 1800X @ 5.8GHz with liquid nitrogen
The feat was perpetrated by the German overclocker 'der8auer', who achieves this speed with a processor that we know is 8 physical cores, achieving speeds like this with a processor with so many cores seems to be quite an engineering achievement.
In order to achieve these frequencies, liquid nitrogen (our great friend) and an extreme voltage of 1.97v (default is 1.35v) were used.
As expected, the previous world record in Cinebench has been smashed by the Ryzen 7 1800X at 5.8GHz, reaching a score of 2, 454 in that test. With a frequency of 5802.93 MHz, the processor was also able to overcome the SuperPi-1M calculation in 7 seconds and 829ms.
Break the world record at Cinebench
Currently the Ryzen 1800X stands as the best option for those who want a really powerful processor for any task, not only video games, but also for video editing or CAD design, some of the most demanding tasks that require a lot of computing power. In the comparison with the i7 6900K that costs about 1, 200 euros, the Ryzen 7 1800X wins by costing half that value with an equal or higher performance.
Meanwhile, Ryzen appears to be a best seller, but the gaming performance of the Ryzen 7 1700X and 1700, which have failed to detach from their direct rivals, i7 7700K and i7 6800K, also raises some questions. All this caused AMD to go out to put on cold cloths ensuring that its processors will improve their gaming performance in the near future, which remains to be seen.
