Ryzen threadripper 2990x and 2950x are out on August 13

AMD will soon launch its second generation of Ryzen Threadripper processors for high-end desktop computers. The new processors will start a new war between AMD and Intel, especially when it comes to core count, with releases of Threadripper 2990X 32-core and Threadripper 2950X 24-core.

The AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2000 series processors were officially unveiled at Computex 2018. We saw two pieces in action by AMD in live demos. AMD revealed that the processors will be released in the second half of 2018 and since its announcement, we have seen several leaks in performance and pricing.
We can confirm the release date of the processors that will be introduced to the HEDT market on August 13, 2018.

The best Intel has right now are 28-core, 56-thread chips, so in this superfluous battle AMD would be winning with the release of the Threadripper 2990X. The latter chip is expected to have a base clock of 3.4 GHz and a maximum turbo clock of 4.0 GHz to 4.2 GHz. This shows that AMD can still achieve very high clock speeds. Additionally, the chip has 16 MB of L2 cache and 64 MB of L3 cache, which rounds up to a total of 80 MB of available cache on a single CPU.
The 2950X, with a 250W TDP, is expected to retail for around $ 999, a price that could bring Intel trouble. The 2990X will cost approximately $ 1, 500, cheaper and with more cores than the Core i9-7980XE.
