Ryzen threadripper 3990x: 64 cores and 128 threads (filtered)

Anonim

Yesterday we saw how AMD officially announced its third generation of the Threadripper series based on the sTRX4 socket and TRX40 chipset. These processors will be launched on the market on November 25, but the company never mentioned its top-of-the-range model, the Ryzen Threadripper 3990X.

This image clearly shows the 8 vertical and 16 horizontal boxes of the graph that shows Windows 10 where the threads of the processor are seen, making a total of 128 threads. For comparison, the Ryzen Threadripper 3970X has 64 threads and the TRX40 creator motherboard does not have two sockets, so it is definitely a single chip that has 128 threads. There is also no possibility that it is a second generation EPYC CPU, since they are designed for the server platform, in addition, it has been seen that trying to put an EPYC CPU on the HEDT platform with the X399 chipset produces quite a few errors. So this is definitely very clear proof that the AMD Threadripper 3990X will exist.

In addition to its incredible 64 cores and 128 threads, it would have 128 PCI-Express 4.0 lines and a cache memory of 288 MB (L2 + L3). Its price would be around $ 3, 000 and would be launched on the market in January 2020.

What do you think of this beast? Do you think Intel will be totally out of competition because of these processors? Do not hesitate to leave your comments!
