Samsung has released what is the first curved monitor with support for Thunderbolt 3, the CJ79, a model intended for professional use. Let's meet him.

Samsung CJ79, first curved monitor with support for Thunderbolt 3.

The new monitor has a 21: 9 aspect ratio, that is, we are dealing with an ultrawide model . Its 34 inches (equivalent in height to a normal model of 27 ″) offer a high pixel density when accompanied by a resolution 3440 x 1440 (QHD). The curvature is quite pronounced with 1500R, which according to the brand is ideal for observing content with greater immersion.

Two quite interesting technologies that have been included are Picture-By-Picture (PBP) and Picture-In-Picture (PIP), which allow, respectively, to put two different image sources next to each other or one inside of other.

Without a doubt, the CJ79's biggest differential point is the use of two Thunderbolt 3 ports that offer a data transfer rate of up to 40Gbps and allow devices of up to 85W to be powered. This is the first implementation on curved monitors, although there are already other flat models with this capacity. Other included ports are an HDMI and a DisplayPort, in addition to two USB, audio jack and two 7W speakers.

As it is a Quantum Dot monitor with a VA panel, the contrast is quite high with 3000: 1, a value that will allow quite deep black colors. In addition to this we have excellent color coverage, 125% of the sRGB spectrum, which reminds us that this is a professional monitor.

However, what does not remind us so much of a professional model is the 100 Hz refresh rate (slightly below the 144Hz typical in high-end gaming monitors) and the support for AMD Freesync technology, so who want to work and play you can have a good ally here.

Prices for this model have not been announced, but it is estimated that it will be quite high given its premium features. You can learn more about the monitor on the official Samsung website.
