Samsung has launched what will be its next gaming monitor: the CJG5, aimed at the upper-middle range with several very interesting features. Let's get to know him.

Samsung CJG5: 1440p, 144Hz and curved VA panel

Samsung likes curved panels a lot and this is not going to be an exception, being a monitor belonging to one of its premium ranges. The 1, 800R curvature VA panel offers an acceptable 3000: 1 contrast, a correct number (although not the best, by far) for VA panels, but well above IPS and TN panels that typically deliver 1000: 1. In this way, quite deep black colors will be obtained even in low-light settings.

Beyond that, the panel has a WQHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, which most users call 2K (although 2K actually corresponds to a lower resolution), so a relatively powerful graphics card will be needed to play, especially when you consider the smooth 144Hz refresh rate. It will not be a cheap monitor, nor intended to play with cheap hardware…

High pixel density or large size? Samsung offers these two options. The 27-inch size is perfect for those who want to see as few pixels as possible, while the 32-inch version will have roughly the same pixel-per-inch density as a 24-inch 1080p monitor.

Other announced details are a 4ms GtG response time, quite acceptable and imperceptible for the vast majority of users. The input connections are 2 HDMI, one 2.0 and the other 1.4. It seems that Samsung does not like DisplayPort very much, but we would have liked to have seen it in use. We finished with the brightness of 300 nits, acceptable but far from stellar.

The price of this new monitor has not been announced, but these types of solutions usually have a very high price.
