Samsung will stop making ddr4 b memories

Memory compatibility issues with the first generation of Ryzen took time to fade away, but to this day they have not completely disappeared. For overclockers this was a problem, until they discovered that the best memories were the Samsung B-Die type to get the best performance.

Samsung kills DDR4 B-die memory production to focus on M-Die and A-Die

The news is that Samsung is going to ditch the B-Die memories, and replace them with denser M-Die and A-Die memories.

The company shared its updated product catalog to communicate that B-Die memories were entering EOL (End of Life) status and that it will be replaced by denser M-Die and A-Die products. The M-Die modules were supposed to have densities of 32GB at a single memory range, and are apparently to be used in server applications, while the new A-Die modules increase the memory density per IC.

At this time it is not known if these new memories will have the same compatibility with Ryzen and the same overclocking capacity as their B-die predecessors, or if they will come enhanced with higher overclocking capabilities. If this were not the case, the B-Die memories would increase their value because they would be more required by the overclocker side.

With this initiative, Samsung seems to want to rationalize its memory production to favor and give more space to denser productions. This appears to be good news for consumers, as long as they have better capabilities than current B-Die, something we don't know at the moment.
