Samsung has just announced its T55 series of 1000R curved monitors that have been certified by TÜV Rheinland to withstand good eye comfort. With 1080p resolution and a solid but unspectacular spec sheet, the monitors seem to be aimed directly at productivity usage, rather than the gaming market.

The line-up comprises the C24T55, C27T55 and C32T55 monitors, which have 24, 27 and 32-inch displays respectively, but share a set of identical features. The 1000R curvature, which means the monitors are curved like an arc of a circle one meter in radius, was chosen because it is so close to the field of view of the human eye. This reduces eye strain as the entire screen can be seen at a glance. Samsung's flicker-free technology and a low blue light mode are also built in to further reduce eyestrain.

Each model uses a VA panel that offers 1080p @ 75Hz resolution with 4ms GtG response times, 1, 193 sRGB coverage, and a mediocre maximum brightness of 250 nits. AMD FreeSync is also supported, which, combined with the slightly above average refresh rate, makes the monitors suitable for casual gamers (this also means that there is likely to be support for G-Sync as well). For the ports we have an HDMI 1.4, a single DisplayPort and a D-Sub, as well as an audio input and output. There are no available USB ports.

The T55 series features a sleek, minimalist design with three-way “borderless” bezels, a fabric-covered back, and a slim 6mm metal base. Unfortunately, the monitors are not VESA compliant and the included bracket only offers tilt adjustments of -3 to 20 °.

The availability and price of the T55 series monitors have yet to be released. We will keep you informed.
