Samsung and ARM have announced an expansion of their collaboration with the advanced manufacturing process to 7/5 nm FinFET, allowing them to stay ahead of the competition in high-performance computing.

Both companies will take advantage of Samsung's 7nm Low Power Plus (7LPP) and 5nm Low Power Early (5LPE) process technologies. 7LPP should be ready for initial production in this second half of 2018. ARM will provide ARM Artisan's physical IP platform, which includes HD logical architecture, a complete set of memory compilers, and 1.8V and 3.3V GPIO libraries.

ARM and Samsung have collaborated on a large number of chips using Artisan's physical IP in Samsung's process technologies. Samsung's 7LPP and 5LPE nodes are innovative process technologies that will meet the needs of their mutual customers, from delivering the next generation of mobile data center SoCs to hyperscalar. ARM stated in May that it would bring Cortex-A76 notebooks to market in 2019 that can exceed 3GHz.
