Samsung and Xiaomi accounted for 60 percent of total shipments to India, representing a 43 percent jump compared to last year. IPhone shipments continued to drop in Q2 by 50 percent.

However, that does not mean that the tech giant has given up its hopes of putting iPhones in the hands of millions in India. Last month, Apple started local production of the iPhone 6S in India, as a move to combat national tariffs raised by the Indian government and to appeal to consumers looking for cheaper iPhones.
