The new AMD Radeon R9 290X graphics cards have finally arrived on the market equipped with an amount of 8GB of VRAM to offer greater competition to the new GeForce GTX 980 from Nvidia, especially in 4K resolutions and higher. One of the first models to arrive is the Sapphire Radeon R9 290X 8GB Vapor-X OC.
The new Sapphire Radeon R9 290X 8GB Vapor-X OC features the manufacturer's efficient Tri-X cooling system and is one of the most powerful on the market. The heatsink is formed by a dense aluminum fin radiator that is crossed by five copper heatpipes that are responsible for distributing the heat generated by the GPU, the set is accompanied by three 90mm fans that offer a high air flow with a low loudness level. It has a rear backplate that helps to cool the card and gives it more rigidity and a better finish.
The card has the AMD Hawaii XT GPU consisting of a total of 44 CUs totaling 2816 Shader Processors, 174 TMUs and 64 ROPs, all under a 28nm manufacturing process. Accompanying the GPU we find 8GB of GDDR5 VRAM at a frequency of 5, 500 MHz linked to a 512-bit interface, which makes it a card specially prepared for very high resolutions.
