The original games of the Tomb Raider saga were going to be relaunched on PC in the form of a remaster, something that has finally been canceled, when there was very little to put on sale. We tell you all the details about this sad news.

The original Tomb Raider trilogy will not be finally remastered

Earlier this month, reports began circulating of the arrival of the remastering of the original trilogy of the Tomb Raider saga on PC. This remaster was reportedly being developed by Realtech VR, the company responsible for the recent ports to mobile platforms for Tomb Raider 1 and 2. These remastered versions were based on the mobile version of the game, using a 3D graphics engine with support for modern gamepads.

It is now that it has come to light that Realtech VR did not request Square Enix's approval for its new project, which has ultimately led to its cancellation. Square Enix posted the following statement on Twitter, although it was later removed.

While we always welcome the passion and excitement for the Tomb Raider franchise, the remasters in question were initiated and publicized without seeking approval, so they were never officially sanctioned. Our mission as a company is to ensure that fans receive high-quality gaming experiences, which requires that all projects be channeled through the appropriate channels.

Sad news for all fans of the Tomb Raider saga. It remains to be seen if Square Enix will launch its own remaster of these popular games.
