Several users have reported having purchased Ryzen 5 1600X and 1600 processors that had 8 active cores right out of the box. Remember that all Ryzen processors are manufactured from the same 8-core Summit Ridge die and from there cores are deactivating in the different ranges.

Several Ryzen 5 1600X CPU owners installed their processor and when booting Windows for the first time they were surprised to find that they had 8 cores and 16 threads running. The CPUs had the same clock speed of 3.6GHz and 4.0GHz as the 1600X, but they had 8 cores and 16 threads instead of 6 and 12 respectively. This makes them Ryzen 7 1800X processors.
