AMD recently held a special event for retailers and distributors. There he has shown the roadmap of releases of his Ryzen processors, revealing the code names of the upcoming Zen2 and Zen3 processors that we have talked about so much in the past.

AMD Roadmap Reveals Upcoming Releases For Ryzen

It seems that the successor to the Ryzen Threadripper (Zen +) will arrive next year with the Castle Peak architecture, based on Zen2. In 2020 AMD will present the refined Zen2 architecture, which is currently known in Zen3 (not to be confused with Zen2 +). A cryptic code called NG HEDT (Next-Gen High-End DeskTop) is currently listed for third-generation Threadripper processors.

As for the desktop Ryzen CPUs, this year the launch of the Pinnacle Ridge will be completed, but AMD already has plans for those who will be the successors of these, with the Matiss e, which will arrive during 2019 and Vermeer that will during 2020, it would become the fourth generation of Ryzen processors.

As for the APU processors, the first models based on Raven Ridge were launched earlier this year, but in 2019 Picasso will arrive and in 2020 Renoir. All these chips will belong to the same Zen2 and Zen3 architecture.

Socket AM4 and TR4 will accompany us until 2020

Another of the confirmed issues is that all the processors released from here until 2020 will be compatible with the current AM4 sockets (for desktop CPUs and APUs) and the TR4 socket for the different Threadripper. This is very good news as there will be no need to purchase new motherboards for future releases.
