We are still starting to enjoy 4K televisions and 8K televisions are starting to get closer, with Sharp being one of the first manufacturers to market one of these screens.

The screen has an average brightness of up to 400 cd / m2 and is HDR10 ready and can reach a peak of up to 1000 cd / m2. The launch of these televisions seems to be a spearhead to start with 8K hegemony, unfortunately there are some drawbacks. The first of them would be the real content in 8K, there is simply no source material available right now to enjoy this screen in all its glory. The second would be 8K content playback, you probably need an awesome media player or HTPC to do it. And thirdly, the connection. In order to reach 7680 × 4320 pixels, this TV needs to combine four HDMI 2.0 connections to provide enough bandwidth for 8K / 60Hz content. No device can support it so far.

Photos with a resolution of 8K (33 megapixels) can be loaded through a USB memory, videos would be limited to 4K.

So far, Netflix is ​​known to have shot Lost in Space in 8K. Sharp understands this launch as more of a showcase or a future bet for its buyers.

Once HDMI 2.1 is widely supported, 8K content playback will be possible. The Sharp LV-70X500E will be available at the end of the month and has a recommended retail price of 11, 199 euros.
