Improved Google Drive lets you select files to sync

Surely, when you try to synchronize your images from your PC to the cloud, you should wait for each and every one you have stored on the hard drive to load, and some of them are probably not necessary. Well, we inform you that you can modify this configuration by following these simple steps:

  1. The first thing you should have on your computer is the downloaded Google Drive application for PC or Mac. Once installed, go to Start> Settings> Google Drive from PC or Finder> Applications> Google Drive from your Mac. When you open the application, locate the three vertical dots at the top right> Preferences> Sync Options.

In the window two options will appear, the first is used to synchronize all the folders and in the second option only the folders that are determined will be synchronized. Press option 2.Once you click on option 2, two mini windows will appear, reflecting the folders you have on the PC, select the ones you really want to synchronize and then click Apply.

Confirm the changes and the application will immediately upload the selected files to the cloud and eliminate the unsynchronized folders increasing the computer space.

You can also synchronize folders that are inside another without having to upload the entire folder, that is, if you have a “photos” folder and you sort them by month, “January photos”, “February photos”, etc., just select the folder "Photos", selecting it will display the list of subfolders associated with it, and there select the folders you want.

Remember that to perform selective synchronization, the files must be stored in folders and not individually, as this ensures that you really synchronize what you need.

As you will see it is fast and simple and above all useful, since this way you avoid taking up space in the cloud that you could use for the images you really want, and the time of the synchronization process is considerably reduced. Try it and upload only what you need.
