Sony is finally gearing up to allow users to change their PlayStation Network ID, the company has announced today that the long-awaited feature will hit all users early next year.

Sony will allow you to change the PlayStation Network ID, but it will only be free for once

Meanwhile, the ID change will be available in beta form through the PlayStation beta program. However, only users who have registered with previous versions of system software will be eligible. The testing phase is scheduled to conclude in November. The ad warned that changing IDs will cause some compatibility issues with games that were released before April 1, 2018. To fix any issues that arise, Sony will allow users to switch between their original and new IDs at any time.

In addition, there will be an option available to users that will allow them to display the old ID next to the new one to facilitate recognition. Once the feature comes out of beta, changing the ID online for the first time will be completely free. Subsequent changes will cost regular users $ 9.99 each time, but PlayStation Plus members will only have to pay $ 4.99.

We applaud Sony's decision to allow the PlayStation Network ID to be changed, but charging for it seems to us somewhat abusive. We will have to wait to know the reaction of the users, but surely it will not be the last controversy with Sony before the end of the year.

What do you think about the possibility of changing the PlayStation Network ID and what you intend to charge for it? We would like to know your opinion on this matter.
