Spotify officially presents its first device

Some time ago Spotify started testing with its own virtual assistant for cars. It is a device, called Car Thing, that connects to the car (it is plugged into the power outlet), although we have to connect it to the smartphone using Bluetooth. This device is already a little closer to officially arriving, it is in a test phase in the United States, where some users already have it.

The goal with these tests is to know how music is consumed while driving. Whether it's listening to music in general or having access to podcasts. You will be able to use the device with voice commands, as with other assistants.

Virtual assistant in the car

In order to activate it, users only have to say "Hey Spotify". Then they will only have to ask what they want to listen to at that time, so that the connection with the smartphone will allow access to the user's playlists. The company has already made it clear that they currently have no plans to market Car Thing. It is a device they use to learn more about the way music is listened to in the car.

Also, it appears the company may have plans to introduce its device or its assistant in new segments. Recently, brands such as Home Thing or Voice Thing have registered, which could mean their entry into the home market.

It could be the company's new strategy, we don't know yet. But it seems that Spotify has an interest in exploring these segments. So we will see if these months there are new news in this regard.
