Samsung has officially released information about its new Z-NAND SZ985 SSD series, a product specially designed to counter one of the biggest emerging bottlenecks in the storage world, memory latency.

What is most impressive is the latency of the Z-NAND memories, which has been achieved both with the Z-NAND itself and with the changes in the design of the memory controller. We still don't know when Samsung's first Z-NAND SSDs will hit the market, but it looks like they're getting closer.
