Tacens Mars Gaming MK3

Mars Gaming gives us a fairly characteristic presentation in its entire series for players. Black packaging, window and plastic blister that protects dust from entering your peripherals. In the back area we find a window that allows us to see part of the keyboard, while on the reverse side the main technical characteristics in different languages. The bundle is made up of:

We extract the Tacens Mars Gaming MK3 from all its packaging and we find a keyboard with a normal size 518 x 230 x 43 mm and a weight of around 1.15 Kg, somewhat elevated but overflowing with quality. The key scheme is the traditional one, including our beloved "Ñ" key as a good Hispanic keyboard, although it seems strange to me to see the "Enter" key so small and in practice it took me a bit of getting used to it. We also have the classic layout with alpha-numeric keyboard, function keys, scroll keys, and numeric keyboard.

As usual in every keyboard in this category we have function keys that work with the combination of it and the FN key, located in the central area of the keyboard. For example if the first function key will launch the multimedia application, the second and third will lower and raise the sound of our equipment… so on. Includes twelve multimedia keys and five for macros. In total we find a total of 118 keys all of them backlit in 7 LED colors (Red, purple, yellow, blue, green, turquoise and white) and that we can adjust the color intensity to the roulette in the upper right area. Each switch incorporates the H-Mechanical Red design, this technology unites the advances of mechanical switches and the softness of the membranes.

The keyboard has a premium design since it allows us to disassemble the keys, it has memory for internal configuration, braided cable and gold-plated USB that helps better connectivity.

As expected it is compatible with all Windows operating systems: (Win XP / VISTA / WIN 7 32 / 64Bit / WIN 8 32Bit / 64Bit) and Linux.

Inside the packaging we find a CD with the drivers and software necessary for its installation. We have a very complete application that allows the user to configure the keys, manage macros, brightness intensity and the three active profiles. In addition to resetting to default values the entire configuration.

Final words and conclusion

Tacens Mars Gaming MK3 is a keyboard with a Spanish layout and mechanical switches with H-Mechanical Red technology with a total of 120 keys. Our tests consist of using the keyboard in the two most frequent environments for the average user:

Office / Daily use: if you come from a membrane keyboard you quickly get used to it. The keys are quite pleasant to the touch and during this analysis I used it without fault. For my part, it perfectly fulfills its mission. Games: I have felt very comfortable in games like League of Legends, Left 4 Dead or Counter Strike Global. The use of the macro keys and especially of its LED lighting system is greatly appreciated, which is appreciated at night.

It is currently in online stores for a price around € 37, which seems very correct to me. In short, if you are looking for an entry-level keyboard with mechanical switches without leaving you half a kidney… the Mars Gaming MK3 is the perfect candidate and at this price it has no competitor, you have to go to a budget of € 60 to € 75.
