Google will keep its Chrome OS, but will "open the window" to those users who want to get a Linux System on their Chromebook device.

Google and Linux. Chromebooks will come ready to receive Linux from the factory

There is no doubt that Linux is an excellent Operating System, so it is not surprising that distributions like Ubuntu or PopOS are famous alternatives among users against the Windows empire. And not only among users, since Google has repeatedly expressed positive about Linux and they have already taken the first step with Chromebooks.

Chromebooks are work laptops that are not affiliated with any specific brand (like the old Nexus mobiles). This means that different models are created by different brands like HP or Samsung. The main feature of these devices is to carry Chrome OS, which only allows you to install applications from the Google Web Store.

You can see here the latest Chromebook model that will be released.

Already last year, Google made great efforts to allow the introduction of Linux through virtual machines on the brand's computers. That is why users eagerly awaited a change in the policy of American brand laptops. Despite the more modest specifications, a facility to introduce a Linux distribution is something that would add many more options to the device.

And as if it were a wish, Google has spoken at its annual congress with the following words: "All the devices that will come out this year will be ready to receive Linux from the factory…". These statements have moved fans and indifferents, since it will mean that the ways to install Linux distributions will be much easier.

Some portals have already tried these new features above and claim that Debian can be installed just by typing "Terminal" in the search tool. On the other hand, the other existing distributions will not be as easy to install, but surely they will have more guarantees and less risks than ever.

As soon as we can, we will review the new devices that Google brings to market, so stay tuned to the news, because Computex is coming soon.

What do you think of Google's decision? Do you like Chrome OS?
