Toshiba rd500, new ssd m.2 reaches the market from 95 euros

Toshiba introduced two M.2 SSDs during the year 2019, these models were the RD500 and the RC500. Both SSDs using BiCS FLASH 3D NAND 96 layer TLC (triple level cell) memory. The RD500 is designed for advanced users and gamers, while the RC500 is designed for enthusiasts who want to get started with using NVMe drives.

At the time, we did not know the dates or prices, but it has not been until now that we have heard about these Toshiba SSDs.

The RD500 uses an 8 channel controller and offers 3400MB / sec. read, 3200MB / sec. write, 685, 000 4KB read IOPs and 625, 000 4KB write IOPs.

This particular model comes in 500GB, 1TB and 2TB capacities and the warranty is 5 years. The price of the RD500 in Europe in versions of 500 GB and 1 TB is 95 and 200 euros respectively.

For its part, the RC500 uses the same 96-layer 3D NAND TLC chips, but its controller is 4-channel. The speeds it achieves are 1700 MB / sec. read and 1600 MB / sec. Write, 355, 000 PIO Read 4KB and 410, 000 Write PIO of the same type. It will be available in 250GB, 500GB and 1TB and its warranty is limited to 3 years. We don't have a price on this model, yet, but it should be noticeably lower compared to the same storage capacity as its brother RD500.
