Tutorial: install windows from a pendrive
Dear friends, to start the week I bring you a tutorial in which I explain the steps necessary to install Windows from a Pendrive, something that is sure to be very useful to you since less and less optical drives are used due to the excellent prices they have the current HDDs, widely used to store our beloved files as a substitute for DVDs.
Requirements:
- An ISO image of the Windows that we are going to install, in this case I am going to install Windows 8.1 Pro x64 A Pendrive of at least 8 GB
Process explanation:
First of all we need to download an application called "Rufus" which is the one that will allow us to prepare the Pendrive to install Windows from it. It is a free application so we only have to go to the application's website to download it:
rufus.akeo.ie/
Once inside the Rufus website we only have to scroll down to see the option to download the latest version of the application and click.
Once the application is downloaded we just have to run it and select the Pendrive and the Windows ISO image that we want to use as shown in the following image, the rest of the options appear automatically. Once selected we click on "Start".
The following window appears, warning us that all the information will be lost on the Pendrive, we make sure one last time that we do not have anything valuable on it and we accept it.
We wait for the application to finish working and show us the message "Operation carried out" at the bottom.
Our Pendrive is now ready to install Windows, we can close the application.
Now we only have to restart the PC and start the Windows installation program from the Pendrive instead of with the traditional installation DVD. Remember that you must configure the boot order of the devices from the BIOS so that it starts from the Pendrive before the Hard Drive.
Once again I remind you to read the entire tutorial and ask any questions before doing anything?
Soon I will show you how to install GNU / Linux from a Pendrive using another application.
